Some Low Cost Seat Covers to prevent wear.

The 99 model has gray velour SE seats that have held up incredibly well over the years. I think if I rug doctor them again they will look like new.

So I've been using old sheets to cover the driver seat to keep it from becoming soiled especially since I spend time rolling around on the ground under the car for various projects. It works to keep the seats from becoming soiled.

So I was thinking about getting a set of low-cost slipcovers for the seats to protect the original velour.

Does anyone have experience with any covers like the ones in the link below?

Craig, I showed you those "iggee" covers I bought and honestly, based on my experience with super-cheap covers as compared to these, I'd never recommend anything else.

Although these were $179, they're pretty friggin awesome.

I can see that. The cheap ones will most likely just come apart within a year.

I have never used seat covers in my maximas but a place that has cheap stuff (but not always at cheap prices - buyer beware) is jcwhitney.com. I used to go to the retail store before the old man died and the kids closed it. I don't know if they will have what you are looking for.

I remember my parents bought a new Mercury in 1966. They quickly had the seats covered with clear seat covers -- like the ones in the picture. They worked. The seats were like new when they got rid of it 5 years later.

Though functional, it was extremely uncomfortable on a long hot summer trip.

Photo looks like a 55 or 56 Chevy.

As I grew up, putting seat covers on everything - house furniture, cars - as soon as you got it was the norm. I remember asking why and was told that it was so that the next owner would get a nice looking item. I never understood the logic to doing that. If I buy something, I'm going to use/enjoy it. The hell with a possible future owner. When I get done with a car, it's junkyard material. Toss in a gallon of gas and a lit match.

Convert the car to right hand drive and you'll be good for another 20+ years!
:D

I can't take looking at my horribly ripped interior anymore and finally broke down and bought seat covers.

I ordered the Iggee S-Leather ones for front and back.

I was in Pep Boys and almost pulled the trigger on a set that didn't cover the sides and then when I got back in my car and checked, the sides absolutely need to be covered. It looks like a dog took a few bites out of the sides and a wolf ate out the middle of both seats!

Thanks for posting the pic of the beige seat covers... Hope mine looks that good when it's installed.

This is why I put racing seats in my car :D

Installation advice ...

Fully remove the seats.

got my seats from a member in here like 8-9 years ago for 100 bux. not only did he take the old ones out, but he waited for me to clean up a bit before he put the new ones in.93 degree day, and he kept my old seats, gave him my last 10 smackers for the trouble and went on my way. :chrome91:

Passenger seat cover installed (with full removal) and looks great. Took me nearly 2 hours with my limited experience dealing with the damn plastic cover on the bottom right but eventually I cut a tiny hole in the old seat leather and threaded the seat cover strap down behind that plastic cover since I couldn’t get it off.

The drivers side is power so I’m sure I will have similar challenges.
