transmission codes and stuck in 3rd gear

so we got our $500 1997 Maxima on the road and her transmission is stuck in limp mode (3rd gear). Now to be up front, the overdrive button is missing since I bought the car, but it has two codes.

P0600
P1605

Now i checked the fuse under the dash and the 7.5 fuse was blown. I replaced it and now strangely, my marker lights stay on and so does my dash lights, and i still dont have any gears except reverse and 3rd gear. what the hell?

UPDATE! CORRECT FIX PROCEEDURES IN POST #6

well, you have 2 serious codes there. here is a link to what can be causing the 1605 code https://www.autocodes.com/p1605_nissan.html there is a reason you got that maxima for cheap my friend. transmission is not communicating because the first code is a faulty circuit or a bad connection. i'm gonna go ahead and say the tcm might be bad. it's def a transmission circuit or relay.

The overdrive button missing will not cause any problems. All it means is that you cannot turn overdrive off.

Replace the TCM and see how that goes.

The TCM is located on the transmission tunnel hump, approximately under the radio. It is stacked with the body control module, BCM. The TCM is the lower module.

ok problem solved and fixed. i dont know why i didnt think of it before. i jumped on my handy dandy shops online tech fixes, and punched in the codes, and it gave a list of what fixes the problems and there it was. fuse #4. i hopped under the dash and bingo, fuse #4 was missing. popped a 10amp fuse in and took her for a quick ride and instantly all gears were there.

BTW too all those searching this in the future, here are possible known fixes:

-fuse #4 missing or blown

then diagnose

1. Check the TCM powers and grounds. If the TCM is not powered up it could cause a problem like this.

2. Check the communication wire for an open circuit or a short to ground between the ECM and the TCM.

last case scenario replace tcm and reset computer.

Correct, however, I was actually checking fuse 5, not fuse 4.

Thanks for letting us know what the final outcome was.

We learn from each other's successes, failures and
what we don't notice the first time around.

Glad that you found a simple solution for your issue.

Someday in the future, someone who has a similar problem as you had , and actually uses the search feature, will thank you as well.
