The only way to know for sure is to check the vin number. If you do a search for it you can find out how. An easy way to tell if it's an SE is if the window trim and door handles are body color and if you have white face gauges. If it's a GLE it will have every option possible and chrome window trim and door handles. Anything else is a GXE.

thanks. it's probably a GLE then, because it has a sunroof, and probably not an SE, because i heard those were more sporty versions and mine is kind of on the bigger and luxorious side, right?

so i don't need to do that speed limiter removal thing because those are only for GXE's right?

A fully loaded SE and GLE will be equally luxurious for the most part but either way you don't need to remove the speed limiter.

well, it has heated seats, a sunroof, the door handles and window trims are chrome, and it doesn't have white face gauges, so my Maxima is for sure a GLE right?

by the way, thanks for the quick replies everybody

The only postive way to tell is to decode the VIN.

TRIM LEVEL DESIGNATOR:
Raise your hood. Look for a shiny metal identification tag fastened to the passenger side of firewall. The top row is the Vehicle Identification Number, starting with J. The second row is model information. The first five characters are BLHUL. The sixth character is the trim level designator, defined as follows:
E = GXE
G = GLE
V = SE

Actually, you can tell without the VIN.

First of all, I have a GXE, and it DOES have a sunroof and power driver's seat. So that's false. Sunroof has nothing to do with it.

But these are the differences:

GXE:
Chrome Door Handles/Grille
Black Guages
Non-BOSE Stereo
No foglights
No leather
No ABS

SE:
Door handles/Grille same color as car
Different shocks
leather-wrapped steering wheel
White Guages
Fog Lights
Can come with or without leather
Can come with or without wood trim
Can come with or without BOSE
Can come with or without leather
Can come with or without ABS

GLE:
Leather, always
Chrome door handles
Black Guages
BOSE Stereo, always
Wood trim, sometimes
No leather wrapping on steering wheel
ABS is standard (I think)
Power Dirvers and Pass Seats.
Foglights

So mostly you can tell by BOSE stereo, Door handles/Grille, and Leather.

I have GXE and I have leather from factory. Best way to confirm GXE/SE/GLE is to check VIN under the hood.

You have the wires, we all do. You just need the kit from the dealer.

Not true. GXE's without the Comfort and Convienience package don't usually have the wires.

Everything else does.

So if you don't have a GXE, you're good.
If you have a GXE and Power Driver's Seat (minimum), you're good.

You probably don't have the wiring.

But you need to look above the foglight bulbs on the inside of the car for the harnesses. They look somehwat like your headlight harnesses, but smaller. They are attached to the wiring loom with electrical tape.

I really don't know how hard it would be....probably not much harder than installing them for aftermarket headlights.

Mecca, GLE has nothing to do with this.

GXE's (like mine) have this too.

I also have a sunroof. Sunroofs have NOTHING to do with Trim level. I already said that earlier in this post.

There's lots of GXE's with leather, also.

Yes, and I bought it that way on purpose. What's the point in buying a BOSE system when you've got $4500 worth of stereo equipment to put in it?

What's the point in buying an SE with nicer struts when you're going to drop and replace them anyway?

GXE's are lighter and cost less (more $$$ for mods)

I love my GXE!

Wrong again there, sport. Steering is no different.

And even if it was, the extra $$$ you paid for that steering went to my 18's and Sprints and Tokicos.

I'll outcorner you any day.
