Has any 4th gen'er defected to a 330ci?

I just had a drive in a BMW 330ci over the weekend.

It was soooooooo nice. :D I hated to leave the cockpit at the end of the run. :bawling: The fit, finish, tightness, power, handling, ergonomics, refinement, ahhhhhh....

Then I woke up and realized, what the hell am I thinking? The fully loaded 330ci is $40k!! But wow, is it nice. In all fairness I'll have to give the latest 5th gen a whirl. Has anyone here done comparisons? Share your experiences...

I really like the 330...but for 40 big ones...definitely not worth my money...can get a lot better performance wise for less

Good point. Although the 2002 body and interior is a very nice improvement over the 1995, it isn't worth $20k extra! But on the other hand, when the 2002 is about 3 years old.... :D

andyXXL is defecting right now, his is on order.

MONTE 01&97 SE Mar 10, 2002 06:43 PM

Nice car but not worth 40G's!

I came back from spring break today and out in front of our apartment I see my roommate came back with a 2000 325i. He convinced his dad to trade for his 2000 Accord, the damn Bimmer has the Sport Package, Dinan CAI, active autowerks exhaust.... when I walked in the conversation just went- "Hi", "I'm not speaking to you", "why?", "YOU KNOW WHY.".

I want one too. :bawling:

"borrow" the keys...but just never give them back:D

I like the 330Ci also, but agree that they are not worth $40K. I'll be retiring my max this summer(220K on it now) to in-town grocery duty. I have looked at the 330, but I am leaning towards a 98-99 M-B 430 sport. It's faster than the Max and much more comfortable. I would love to get a new Maxima, but I don't think they are worth the new prices.

NYCe MaXiMa Mar 10, 2002 09:28 PM

yea

AndyXXL is moving up from a 97 Max to a 330ci

The new 3 series overall is just one sweet ****ing car. That's all I can say about it.

"Rattles"? "wheel gap"?
I don't think those 2 words exist in the German language because BMW is THE SH!T!

Did you buy clear/red tails separately or did they come with a sport package option?
I think clear lenses all around look much better than yellow ones.

njmaxseltd Mar 11, 2002 07:58 AM

Baught them seperately.

Your car looks nice. I was debating between Titanium Silver and Orient Blue and went with the last one :)

No, I figured it's time to buy a brand new car. I've had 3 used cars already, and don't feel like getting another one. 330ci is the only bimmer I like and can afford to buy brand new.

I had planned on shooting for a 2002 540i, but the body and engine will be changing in 2003 so I'll be waiting. Plus, the job has been going well so I've been kicking around the new new 745IL.

Stealth Max Mar 11, 2002 03:04 PM

The BMW 330ci is a sweet ride. Just hold off a few options and get one in the mid 30's. But if you have the extra $$$$ then M3 is the car to get. :D

Hey Andy I sell BMW parts too. ;)

Good to know, although I'm not sure if I'd want to change anything there.

Now I heard that was a really good trip during the spring/summer time. One of my friend did that and he loved it. Way to pick up the new car in style and luxury. Get to try out the Autobahn during your stay. :D

I have a fleet manager in GA who gives me better prices. But I haven't checked the price of the program, so I can't say which would be better. But if I did it, I would really try to do it right and see how much the could mod it. But yes, I'm working hard for that BMW.

I-Drive is terrible. People were complaining about the styling of the E65, but in person with the 19's it looks awesome. Now the interior is nice, but they need to put a conventional gated shifter in the car. BTW the Shifting buttons on the steering wheel are non-functional until later this yeat.

What I don't understand is who needs 19" rims on a high-end luxury vehicle? What is the purpose?

Might be a stupid question, but whats the European Delivery Program???

Stillen_I30 Mar 11, 2002 11:49 PM

i got a chance to play around with a new 745i for about 45 mins...it was AWESOME. if you're into gadgets like I am, the entire i-drive system is a feature-full gadget that you can spend hours on in the garage toying with. I mean, the trunk opens and closes for you, the car does EVERYTHING. I drove the 330xci (AWD) and didnt find it too different from our 2000 TL. On a diff note, I drove the Audi 2.7 Turbo and didnt like it at all...would consider it if its still around when I'm over 50. Definately a nice car though...

You go to your local dealership and order a car. But instead of waiting for it here, you go and pick it up in Germany yourself. Then you have about a week or even more to drive your brand new car across Germany (Autobahns), and I think some other countries as well. The price for a brand new car plus a trip to Germany will be a few thousand dollars less than if you just ordered a car and were waiting for it to be delivered to your home.

I'm still thinking maybe I should do it.

Go for it if the price fits your budget! You will have a GREAT time over there in Germany. Take advantage to drive the European model cars like M3, M5, Porsches while you are staying in Germany. :D
