I have a '97 GLE with 68,890 miles. When should I expect any major OR minor problems. What does everyone here have and what problems have you guys encountered?

I have 45k right now.

Problems so far:

22k: oil pressure sending unit leaked..replaced under warranty

23k: damaged center fan vents (myself)...dealer replaced it under warranty!

32k: Alternator died...replaced under warranty

33k: Blower fan noise...replaced under warranty
33k: trunk trim replaced under warranty

35k: Front headlight leaked...replaced under warranty

So as you see, the Maxima hasn't been particularly reliable. Well at least for me, and I'm obsessive about maintaining my car in good condition. Oh well, no problems for 10k so far and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I have 91,200 miles and counting, well sort off,

my car has been sitting in the driveway for a few days now and will be until next Tuesday because my clutch died at 91,200 luckily I made it home barely though, but other then this miss fortune I have had 2 o2 sensors brake and cost about $550 to replace by Nissan. These above problems are problems that have occured since I purchased the car on 9/9/99 {freaky huh} when it had 63,780 on it.All in all I would say the car has treated me good since It has never left me stranded on the street and has always started for me,keep in mind my Clutch would still work if I did not beat on it all the time {damn mustang races haha}.

Mileage

62,200 miles on my 95. I bought it used in Oct 98 and it had 36,000 miles on it then. The battery was replaced in June 99 and I had a problem with the ignition in the fall of 99. Tires replaced in Aug 99, brakes re-done in fall 99. Also the climate control display sometimes can't be seen. (the lights behind the buttons don't work, but the temp display is fine)

109,000 miles today

95 SE 5 speed. I bought in 9 months ago and have put 39,000 miles on the car

Problems:
1. Clutch went at around 93k
2. The window motor in the driver side went bad.
3. Just recently one of the front tires had a slow leak from a nail.

Thats it after 39,000 miles with 109,000 on the car- not too bad.

Well, 34,000 miles over here and the only thing I have changed was the battery (actually died in the parts store parking lot while there to get oil ), the right front wheel bearing went bad (replaced under warranty), and thats it. I need tires soon though.

78k on my 98 GXE no problems until today. Fuel light will not go off. Do Maxima warning lights come on when scheduled maintenace is due maybe I need a new fuel filter or something (just reaching here). Could reseting the ECU possibly remedy this? I know its not my thread but I have posted a message here. Any advice appreciated.

How many miles

96 max 45K kilometres

Only problem was the O2 sensor went belly up when I washed the engine last spring. Replaced free by the dealer.

Mods: 225/45 ZR 17 BF Goodrich Comp TA/KD (fun if you do not use them much and take them off for the winter). Water wetter, K&N panel filter, Courtesy FSTB, Synthetic fluids.

Want a Stillen RSB.

PS this is just a 4 door family sedan. Spanking a Mustang with a child seat in the back is a lot of fun.

96 Maxima 5 speed bought back in April 99 with 30K miles.
It currently has 60000 miles, has 24 damn-near powershifted 1/4 mile passes under it's belt, and spends lots of time above 4000 rpms. The clutch is as strong as the day I bought it. It never slips.

Problems? Nothing. 21/26 mpg city/highway.

My baby

My old 87 Maxima GXE had 211,000 on it when I finally traded it in.
every year I gave her a tune up, had problems with tires every two years. at 150,000 had trans leak probles. Changed cv boots, ball joints. But over all that engine rocked
Changed the fuel injector(factory recall) I forget I think 97. Otherwise no chronic problems, just regular breakdown, of a high performance car. I drove the **** of her

The only reason I traded her in was cuz the motor mounts were finally goin and same with exhaust. And I took that money and the car and traded in for a used 96 Maxima SE.
At 54,000 miles no problems yet, except for cold mornings she doesnt start on the first try. But I'm changing the fuel filter this Saturday.

I love these cars. I almost took my old one and jacked her up to make a moster max out of her for fun. :P

ive changed my brakes couple of times, and ive had to resurface my rotors twice.

whats up with the 02 sensors going bad on the 95's??...does nissan do it free, or do they want my money?

after i lowered my car, my right front strut went bad.
cant wait till i get some konis.

I beleive that there was a recall on the 95-96's for the O2 sensors. I know people here have gotten them replaced for free. I haven't had a chance to get the car to the dealer yet though.

First time Max owner

Just bought this Max for my wife. She's addicted to 5spd but needed a bigger car (replaced an A4).

Bought this 99 Max GXE with 23K. Still tweaking after the sale. Some slight alignment problems, slight clutch shudder in traffic. Still under warranty so dealer is going to GET TO KNOW ME...

Getting nearly 25mpg. Can't decide on premium or Plus...

HOLY ****! thats a typo right? 187k+ damn, where the hell did you drive???

My max is approaching 95k, had the car for 10k miles but allready had to replace the tranny, battery, tires, O2 sensor. There were some other minor things but thats not important. Love the car overall but the mother****er is draining $ from me, I only get about 12 miles per gallon mixed highway/city driving. damn POS, thats after a tune up and a o2 Sensor,
What I really want is a 97+ 5 spd

86,000 on a 96SE. I bought it with 55,000 miles. I needed a new battery (still had the original) and routine maintenance. No problems at all. Oh yeah, and the O2 sensor was replaced..but that's common for the 95/96's...mine hadn't gone bad though, but they replaced it anyway. I think I'm gonna convince my girl to get rid of her Chevy Blazer to get a 3rd Generation maxima...

I have 25,000 on mine.. bought it with 6,000 (demo) so have put a little over 19,000 on it. That is a lot for like 10 months but it was an exception really.. I will not be driving it that much in the coming years.

No problems except the TCU which they replaced.

My 95 Max SE (which I just saw yesterday) had 105,000 on it when I sold it to my brother-in-law and now has 120,000 and is running great.

I have 35,000 on a 99 SE. I bought it with 31k 3 months ago. I need to replace all four rotors. Thinking of going with the Stillen cross drilled rotors with metal matrix pads.
