I have a 97 SE and when I lock and unlock my doors with the remote the horn doesn't signal. How do you get the horn to beep when you lock and unlock your doors with the remote? It is the factory system and not after market.

Jack,

So sorry - this guy is a friend of mine - I turned him on to the board as a place that can help. I apologize that I didn't give him detailed instructions on how to use search - I just said that there were a lot of very nice helpful people on the board.

Next time I let people know on about maxima.org, I will tell them to start with search so they don't get griped at. Hey, Jamie, can we change the business cards to say, "Maxima.org - the place for Maxima Enthusiasts, (but please check search first)"

Save the horn stuff for all of the neurotic Explorer drivers who "aren't sure" whether they locked their doors or not. On the Explorers, two hits on the remote will sound the horn. That way they can make "sure" the alarm is activated and annoy everyone in the general area. Your Maxima will blink its lights twice when you lock the car via the remote, and turn on the interior lights if you desire when you unlock it. Don't change a great system to become like the Explorer owners!

Hey JacksMax... I understand your frustration about seeing a post about something we just covered on the board..(I had the same reaction) but when a new person here has their first post, I would expect them to not know everything about the place.. take it easy on the lurkers...
