Question about Mods
 

I have a stock 97' SE 5spd and was thinking of making a few changes like, intake, y-pipe and maybe new flywheel and clutch combo (about 70k on mine). Only problem is I don't really know what to expect in terms of improved driveability. I also want to try to better understand any tradeoffs I should keep in mind (like noise). I basically want to get the most without it being obvious (to everyone I drive by) as I still have to drive the occassional client around. Any thoughts or suggestions?

A y pipe wont be that noticeable soundwise if you keep your stock muffler. Intake wont either until you are WOT or pretty close to it. Improved driveability? You will be able to go from point A to point B faster:D

Do a hybrid intake, w/ a y-pipe, and keep the stock muffler along with a greddy B-pipe. Just dont floor it too hard when a client is with you.:D I drive an auto:(, so dont ask me about clutch/flywheel stuff. But I think a stage 2 clutch would be good, handles good power, and doesn't feel like a full on racing clutch. I've also heard good things about a lightened flywheel too, but $509 is a lot to spend on that.

Appreciate the feedback. I'm guessing the hybrid provides for a better combination of low-end and high-end power?

In terms of driveability, you've touched on my potential concern with clutch feel.

The prior post on point A to B is fairly obvious. I should have been more specific, even though this is clearly subjective, but was really wanting to know how much faster the car might "feel" in everday driving. Specifically after intake and y-pipe mods. I guess this falls more in the domain of torque vs hp?
