All I30 5spd's have VLSD?

I did confirm that my 96 I30 (not touring) has the VLSD. The tranny code is RS5f50V, and it has a full size 16" spare (even though my wheels are 15", funny huh?)

So, would all 5spd I30's have the VLSD? Were the i30 5spd's with cloth only offered in 96? I only know of myself and ARonMax who have non touring 96 i30 5spds, and both of us have VLSD. The coolest thing is that both of us bought our cars before we found out they had VLSD!

Yes, All 5-speed I30s ever produced have VLSD.

Actually, I found someone to sell me their 99 headlights, cornering lights (I have a cracked one), and turn signals.....a second pair to try to clear out!!

Ya after searching for a 5speed maxima for so long, it was nice to find a 5speed I30 (which in my opinion looks better) and the Limited Slip was a huge bonus.

I30 LSD's

I believe all I30t's have LSD, as do other I30's with the winter package (as evidenced by the also-included heated seats). I don't think that non-t I30's without the winter package have LSD, although you guys may prove me wrong. Additionally, some-very, very few- 5speed Maxima's have the heated seats and winter package, and therefore the LSD, i think I've read here before.

I don't have the winter package, but do have the VLSD.

I have a 98 I30t with a 5spd but I don't think its a VLSD just a LSD. Viscous would involve more advanced clutch style actuators. Although I had no idea that a regular I30 had a 5spd option?

I didn't know there was a winter edition all I remember is touring and non touring. I believe that only the Touring came with heated seats, I think that the LSD was an option for any I30 but standard on the touring, like the heated seats.

It does, got one to prove it! The tranny code is for a VLSD. I think all the i30's with the lsd have a VLSD.

I used to have a 93se 5spd and it had a similar lsd tranny and you could really pull out of corner with very little traction loss. Someone here a few days ago was talking about the difference of the nissan vlsd and the quaife stated something like a 70/30 and a 50/50 and how the quaife was better does anyone know what these ratios mean. Perhaps when traction is lost with the quaife it will send 70% to the gripping wheel and 30% to the slipping hence limited not zero slip. But if you look at it that way then 50% transferred to the gripping wheel on the nissan vlsd you would still be loosing the other 50%??? Anyone?

Only I30t (Touring) models have VLSD's. Both manual and auto Touring models have them. All non-Touring models, auto and manual, have open diffs. The VLSD is only available as a standard part of the Touring package. Through 2001, all FWD LSD units Nissan has produced are Viscous units. The new 6-sp cars now get Helical LSDs.

 Not true my friend. Mine is a non-touring model, and has a VLSD. It has the tranny code for the VLSD RS5f50V and the full size 16" spare. RonMax has the same car as I do with the same tranny code.
