Center Console Removal Question

Hi Again. I have a 95 gxe and I am swapping out the center armrest for a 97 one. My question is, is this hard to do? Does anyone have instructions on the net of how to do it? I searched through the forums and found that Greg had done it. I am PMed him and he hasn't gotten back to me in awhile. I was just seeing if anyone else knew how to. Thanks agian, the help has been great!

It's simple. If you're talking about the center console, including the trim around the shifter, hand brake, and cupholder, just take out two screws on either side towards the rear of the console (the area of the ash tray) and once those are off, pull up from the back. The thing should detach itself, if not...keep fiddling around with it until it does (you might want to take out the shifter trim (black piece) in the process.

There are also two screws beneath the ashtray, so you'll have to take off the trim piece that surrounds the shifter and also remove the ashtray itself to access one of the screws.

uumm wait
isn't he talking about the ARMREST?

that is not the same thing as the shifter/radio/ashtray...

for the armrest piece along with the cupholders and all that stuff, you need to get 2 screws that are on the side of the front seats.. closer towards the back.. u have to move your seats all the way forward and look on the center console, there is a screw on each side.... get those out, and i believe there might be 2 in the front as well.... that might be all there is to it.. just pull it off then...
