Gague Calibration Question and Help
 

I am considering the intelliglow needles.

First off, are they worth the hassle? Same question goes for reverse indiglo kit.

Second, when people say that you should mark calibration points, explain to me, in detail, what they mean.

Third, if the calibration is off, will the difference always be the same? I mean, if the tach is off by 200rpm, will it be off by 200rpm at all levels? And if speedo is off, will it always be off by the same amount? OR will the difference vary non linearly?

First you need to make a note of the needle positions at idle after you car has warmed up. While removing your needles you gently push them Counterclockwise. There will be a point in which the needle will stop, this is the calibration point. Once you have your gauges back together you need to hookup the gauge cluster without the plastic cover and start the car. Once the car is warm, adjust the needles to match the previous pattern.

I like the gauge and needle combo, their worth is really up to you.

yeah, i really like the gague and needle combo, pair that with aluminum bezel and chrome rings and it is HOT!

anyway, my other initial question was if the diference will always be the same or if the gagues will vary non linearly? anybody?

If you take your time and do it right you should be able to set your gauges back to or very close to stock. Any variance will exist throughout the sweep of the gauge.

Do you have the digital trip/odo or analog (mechanical one)?

My tach is off by 200rpm. Im pretty positive that its off by the same amount through the whole rev range. I just learn to live with it, I usually drive based on sound anyways.
The needles were worth the trouble :)

If you had the digital, I'd give you an almost fool-proof way of swapping needles or installing the intelliglow needle kit. You've got an analog (like me), so you're screwed :(
