urgency of changin oxygen sensor

i got the code 0901 about 2 weeks ago which would be front right o2 sensor, i reset the light and after about 500 miles the cel came back on. i ordered the sensor, bit im goin on vacation thursday night and dont know if ill have the sensor in time or have the time to change it. the car still seems to run fine, my gas milage is about the same and when i reset the cel it doesnt come back on for a few 100 miles. ill be drivin prob bout 700 miles over the weekend so will it be alright if i wait to get back to change it or should i make it a point to do it before i leave. thank in advance for any help.

You won't cause any damage by doing. You should eventually start to notice a loss of performance and fuel mileage as well as increased emmisiosn with a bad O2 sensor, but you're not going to hurt the car by waiting the weekend.

I had better fuel economy when my CEL was on in my Escort for the 02 sensor. I think it can go both ways. Either way, it should be ok.
