Hit a huge pot hole, damaged 2 Konig's and blew a shock. What do i do now??
Well, the MAX isn't so perfect anymore. It never fails, I get a few new mods put on the car and the rear main seal goes and then the A/C compressor, and now this. Oh, i was just about to put in an order for a NX nitrous kit and all the goodies.. DAMMIT!!! Anyway, I hit a HUGE pot hole on the highway (202 south in PA). There was absolutely no way to avoid this thing because of all the construction. I damaged my Konig Monsoons (which I love) and blew out my front KYB AGX front shock. The tires didn't blow out and the center of the rims are fine. Is there anyway that I can get these things banged out so they look 100% again? Do I have to get the tires rebalanced? Also, any of you guys ever had this happen with the KYB AGX's? What do I do and can I just buy 1 or do I have to get a set? Are they covered under warranty? How much do you think this is going to cost? Any advise is appreciated!

Are the KYBs less then a year old? if they are less then a year old call KYB and tell them one of their shocks blew. If they are more then a year old then your just going to have to buy one. Thats the downfall with KYB no lifetime warranty.

Less than a year old! :) Should i ask that both the fronts be replaced? Think that i can get them to pay for labor since i dont have the time right now to do it myself?

They'll only pay for the one that's actually damaged after you remove it and ship it to them with the proper RMA #. They then inspect it. This will take 2-3 weeks if you're lucky. Here in Seattle there is a place that will fix aluminum rims...they've fixed my TSW's twice now for only about $75.00 per rim.
Looks good as new. See if you can find a place like that in your area...My shop is a very small shop that doesn't advertise much...I found them by asking the guys at the big tire store (Les Schwab), and they recommended them. IanS |

my friend hit a pot hole and blew out a tire and a bent rim and when to the state depaartment and told them about it and they already went and patched the hole and told him there was no hole in the road...just go to your state department and file the complaint.

what to do
well the first thing to do is CRY:bawling: than get em banged out and buy a new pair of shocks than CRY some more:bawling: than things should be like they used to

The warranty that came with my AGX's says Lifetime warranty to the original owner as long as the car isn't lower more then 1.5 inches. :gotme: |

This is one of the key mandates of my our Ministry of Transportation. I'm sure it's the same where you are. Be prepared for them to dismiss your case initially so you'll have to be persistent. You should also see who you can cc your letter to (e.g. AAA, local political representative, newspapaper????) That might lend a bit more profile to your claim. No road authority wants to see their name in the news in a negative light. Good luck! |
Yes, the sprint drop is probably around a 1.8" drop. Are they definately going to be able to tell that it is under the 1.5" drop that is manditory for the warranty to be valid? Should i send the strut back to them anyway just to push my luck?

i dont see how they could tell whether your car is dropped more than 1.5 inches. there is substantial wear on the struts, but they have no proof that it was because of a drop more than 1.5 inches. could have been extremely poor road quality or possibly a faulty strut. i dont think they will reject your warranty claiming your car was dropped more than 1.5 inches.
