Dlr chg'd oil w/ only 4 quarts?...
 

This may be a dumb question... But how many quarts is best for an oil change for the 2k2 max?

The first oil chg, I gave them 6 quarts of mobile-1 and they used 5. Which is what I'd expect.

The second oil chg, I gave them a big 5-quart container of mobile-1, and they left about a quart still in it.

What gives!... :confused:

I checked the oil, and it looks good. I seem to recall reading that the 2k2 takes 5 quarts, though. Maybe in the manual or something. I'm trying to locate it now.

Any info that may shed some light on this matter would be appreciated.

The manual states that a 2K2 uses exactly 4.25 quarts of oil. I had my oil changed recently and they put in 4.0 also. I don't think there is any problem with this.

4.25 is the correct answer. Next time you take them the Mobil 1, give them 4 quarts. Drive it, check the dipstick and top off. Less oil especially .25 quart low is much better than an overfill.

Good idea about bringing just 4 quarts to insure no over-filling. I don't know where I got 5 quarts from. Maybe, I'm still use to my old mustang.
