Do you have a dark colored Maxima or were those Maxima's you saw dark colored? You may have seen a 2000-2001 Maxima SE, which would have had a smoked out tail light. That was a standard feature of the 2000-2001 SE. The tail assemblies are interchangeable and several 2000-2001 owners are looking to trade with 2002-2003 owners in the For Sale forum of this board. FYI...they are not body colored, but very close to Black or Gray Maxima's.

I would venture to guess that you may get a couple people to respond to this thread offering you that very deal. Otherwise, you can buy them from Dave Burnette @ Town North Nissan. He gives Maxima.ORG members good prices. 800-251-7278

Do a search on the org. They were probably painted, not covered. There isn't really a way to cover the tails on the Maxima since they are flush with the body of the car. Plus, I don't think anybody sells covers. They were either fab'd by these guys individually or they were painted with body colored paint. A couple guys on the board have done the paint thing.

BigDogJonX did it once...try PM'ing him.

Just out of curiosity does your wife drive the other car, or do you just have a thing for nice sporty four door sedans?

CO2kmax Jul 24, 2002 11:23 AM

The SE tail light almost look like carbon fibre. I think they only look good on black, but that is only my .02. Welcome to the ORG, have fun modding and keep us updated. Also us the search, there is soooooooo much info.

You have to get the 2K/2K1 tail lights and have them painted. I bet some 2K/2K1 owners will gladly trade with you on the .org

actually, my dad bought me the acura tls & just bought my sister a maxima. plus, me & sister switch cars all the time & therefore, i will definitely put some mod on both cars. for my tls, i put a CAI, sway & going to get strut bar, exhaust, header & coilovers. for the maxima, planning to drop a CAI first. btw, i'm a student.

Do you think your dad would consider adoption? I am very nice and housebroken

Max00 Jul 26, 2002 05:01 PM

2003max, welcome to the .org! Have you had any problems with the TLS? We just traded ours for the G35 due to the transmission problems we'd had.

Why only the 2k/2k1 tails? I'm guessin cuz you don't like the yellow bottom half of the 2k2's right?

Max00 Jul 27, 2002 06:22 AM

2003max, we had the tranny changed (took over a month) got the car back, then the next day it was acting crazy again! We did some wise negotiations with the Acura dealer and got the G. The major question was, did they really replace the transmission or was he just jerking us around. Hope yours works out better than ours! I'm sure the Maxima won't give u any worries. :)

some people who had their cars' tranny changed a while ago did come up the same problem coz some dealer just fix it instead of putting a new tranny. but now, i believe (& hope) that everything is fine. btw, i'm pushing my tls harder & harder everyday to see if the tranny can hold.

hi, i did a search on those 2k/2k1 tail lights. i just don't know why i need those & have them painted instead of just using the 2k3 one. both are just plastic outside & the only difference is the inner. btw, did u do it youself or have auto body shop painted it?
