Maxima fuel transmission

I have a 2001 Maxima with Auto Transmission. The dealer recommends to change the transmission fluid at 30,000 miles. I looked under the car and I saw a hexagon shaped drain plug and it looks very easy to change. So I am thinking about changing it at 12000. What grade of automatic transmission fluid should I use? Also how many quarts does it take? Thanks for your time.

I have switched 2 automatics to AMSOIL ATF with marvelous results. You can do a search for the write up on flushing the tranny. You'll need about 12 quarts to do it. I strongly recommend the synthetic ATF.
