Maximagirl or Max Girl something like tha has a 2002 with 20" do a search using her username and it should bring up the treads with her homepage if it is still available. She was trying to sell the car on ebay once too so she may not have it any more.

20'S?? UGHHHHH!!!! 17's are okay, 18's

passable, 19's i hate, 20s fall into the 'despicable' category....
Why in the %%$$#@%^&U would one wanna do this???????? Ride will suk, handling on anywhere but a glass-smooth surface will suk, the brakes will look like dinky saucer plates behind the vast expanse of open wheels, they will reduce acceleration so...why? 'Cause they look cool?

Ever see a Formula 1 car, World Rally car, ALMS series car, Trans-Am car, etc etc ad nauseum with anything larger than 18" wheels? Definitely a poseur mod.

Why do you care what I do?

Thats your opinion, which does not matter to me.

You think I bought the car to race around the fu%%%n streets. You might want to use your car as a race car, but I choose not to beat on my ride.

What no pic of you car just red X. Anyway as long as your car is done right there is nothing wrong with larger wheel i just hate to see a car with large aftermarket wheels and it's not done right meaning. Lowering springs and in the case of 19" or 20" bigger brakes. If your going to go for show do it right!!!

look very tight. what kind of rims? that's sort of the picture i was looking for. i figured w/ 245/35/20's, your speedo would be off a little (approx 3.5% error meaning you'd be traveling 62 when your speedo read 60). but the larger overall size would fill the wheel gap. no real need to lower the car.

now, i think that wheel/tire combo size would translate to 245/40/19 (giving approx 3.3% error). i think i'll go w/ that tire size on my new 19's and not lower the car. think it may be a good trade off.

Galo Aug 23, 2002 08:08 AM

Hey GaMax97...I'm probably older than u

but...too old?? Well, that's subjective, isn't it? I could look at it the other way 'round..might u be too young to know better?

My (few) mods are for go, not show. To each his own but...if you post on this (or other similar) forum asking the typical 'how do you like X' or 'please comment on my 'y' thingies, be prepared to take both good and bad news equally...

Which is why I never have -nor will- post such a 'whaddaya guys think of 'x' thingie' post here...I'm old enough to know better.

 3.5% error? that is a lot of error!

that's compared to SE stock tires...meaning traveling 62 when your speedo say 60.

compared to GLE stock tires 215/55/17, it's only 1.7% error for 245/35/20 and 1.5% error for 245/40/19 translating to traveling 61 when speedo says 60.

i don't think that's too far off.

If he had asked "what do you think of 20's" then there would be no issue. BUT, he asked about rubbing issues from people with 20's.

MAXRAY, sorry for whoring up your thread with bickering. I like 20's and I am considering right now to go to either 19's or 20's form the 18's I have now, they are just too small.

Y2KMaxGXE-R Aug 23, 2002 11:08 AM

yep anything larger than 18"s looks ghetto on a Maxima. If you got too much dough to blow then get yourself an SUV and put on 23"s. But is a personal taste you know.

This idiot AGAIN! Yes, because they look cool. Just like body kits, spoilers, dual exhausts, chrome, tint, etc...
I do think that 20's might be a little big on the Max, but if you drop it w/a kit, you might be able to get away with it. I'm gonna get some 19's, but I'd go 20's too if I had a C class or 3 series or something.

Igor911 Aug 23, 2002 06:55 PM

I have 18"s but i can make them look like 20"s in photoshop! hehehe:laugh:

We have a few big wheel hating A holes here, who cant afford them , so they are so bitter that they blast them !

Tanman Aug 23, 2002 10:28 PM

Come on folks, he stated an opinion, please cut out blasting him personally. I dislike over-sized wheels on the Maxima as well, I think 18" is tops. It doesn't matter if it rubs, it just doesn't look right. But again, that's just an opinion, please don't hurt me.

KLOOGY Aug 23, 2002 11:38 PM

Way OT...but anyway...YES 19"s 20"s make you go slow BUT....They do look exceptionally sharp if the proper deign is used. Kloogy...Mad props..simple yet elegeant wheels. The zenetti wheels just look awesome, chrome big, slow, but its all about class. You can hate all you want on big wheels..but the fact remains...big thick rubbers (tires for all you perverts) dont loook appealing and filling up that wheel gap with 19"s or 20"s does the job in my book!

chinaonnitrous1 Aug 23, 2002 11:52 PM

once again..thoes zenetti wheels..look..DAMN good

hmm re-reading the thread..if i was driving a F1...WRC...ALMS..trans-am....car..i would NOT put anything bigger than a 17" but..im driving a family sedan with a hint of performance. I know my car isnt gonna be hitting 200mph...sliding sideways in the gravel...or whatever...im gonna be driving on the pavement. Spinning my wheels, and crusin. Thats all. Picking up girls too!

KLOOGY Aug 24, 2002 12:03 AM
