okay, to those who have done this; what items am igoing to need? Im guessing the basic tools and electricians tape, but anything i need to go abnd buy to do the job right?

Unless you consider 'piggy backs' or 'wire splices' in your list of 'basic tools', you will need those and butt-end connectors. Get a few more than you will need in case of screw ups. You will also need wire.
