has anyone else notice how violently this thing shakes once above 70mph ??

riblackmax Dec 23, 2000 03:39 AM

Yes I have. I asked the dealer and once again was told a characteristic of the car. I really like my maxima, but alot of the little things are starting to get annoying.

dougb Dec 23, 2000 03:54 AM

I actually had mine replaced yesterday....

and it still shakes. I'm not sure if it is as bad as previously because I only drove the car home so far, but it start shaking some when I was driving.

UMD_MaxSE Dec 23, 2000 07:02 AM

Mine does it also, but not very violently. I think it is normal. The accord I had before also did the same thing.

Both of the Maxima's along with the Camry and my sisters Accord do this...Strangly though, none of the passenger sides do this

Gee... when I said that I was experiencing a lil' window rattle over 70 mph, my dealer just gave me the "couldn't reproduce problem"... They're apparently not allowed to drive 70mph with YOUR car... go figure..

I have a feeling your gonna have a LOT OF FUN trying to prove to them that it DOES happen, that it's a valid problem, and that it should be replaced under warrenty..

Quick Fix : Drive slower... OR NOT!!!!

slick Dec 23, 2000 06:20 PM

maybe it needs to be tightened

i haven't actually noticed it ( i dont really use that mirror, please dont criticize me :) ) but since it does pivot, maybe its a little loose and can some how be tightened, this might make it hard to move, but oh well.

All dealers are full of crap! The worst with this (the "Can't REproduce crap") is Ford.

WIndow closing

Don't know if any one has had this but, either opening or closing my window i hear this sqeaking sound, like rubber on glass, and even though the window is either closed all the way already or open it sound like it still wants to keep going and i hear for a good 10-15 seconds, is that normal?
thanks guys:D

MaxPower2K2 Feb 25, 2002 01:21 PM

I GOT A 2K2 AND MINE DOESNT SHAKE THOUGH

MichaelAE Feb 25, 2002 01:27 PM

I've never noticed any vibration. Some of us have different mirrors than each other, though. Don't the GLE/GXE mirrors have a black bottom half with body-color paint on the top half? SE? I don't know. I know the AE has solid body color...I imagine this is just a matter of the out shell, but who knows.

Re: WIndow closing

Yup, i had squeaky windows... fixed under warranty (they had to replace all of the innards... greasing it didn't work, and the problem came back a week later)..

side mirror shake

I have a 2k2 SE and I have not seen this problem. I travel at 85+ fairly often and would have seen this happening. Of course the road quality can make a big difference and the roads I travel are in good shape.

Jief Feb 26, 2002 08:09 AM

No problem for me

I checked on my way home, yesterday evening, and I didnt notice any vibration (other than hood fluttering, but that's another case...)..

I have a 2k1 GXE with convenience package (heated mirrors)....

:o

magnum Feb 26, 2002 10:15 AM

i have a 2k gxe, and i dont see any vibrations in my mirror, nor does my hood flutter. i did have to replace the drivers side mirror tho cuz someone got happy with a hammer.
