How in the world do you take out a 2002 Bose head unit
 

I'm following the directions from some Bose site on how to remove the head unit, I've unscrewed the screw in the little ash tray dealio.....

Now it says using the 4 clips slide the wood trim up towards the ac... wtf? I can't get it to budge or find any clips at all. I got my new HU today (Pioneer 7400) and was so excited only to find It was impossible to get the wood trim off around the shifter as some online guide with pictures was showing.

Can anyone help me out? :mad:

Yeah its pretty easy, you need to remove the AC vents ontop of the headunit. once you have taken them out, there will be 2 screws that you need to take out, once you take the screws out, just pull the headunit out, its kinda hanging there. I hope this helps a little.

Wrap a piece of cloth around a flathead screwdriver and pry both the edges up on the sides of the trim aroung the shift, then pulle the ac vent of the same way(a/c vent is stubborn at first) then unscrew the two screws on top of the cd player and thats it! If you need pics, let me know.

Well if it wouldnt be too much trouble pics would be appreciated. So you are saying once I get the ash tray screw out, I just pry out the wood trim with a screw driver and cloth? I'm afraid I'd break it :( Do i even need to remove the wood trim?

Also, would using the new head unit effect anything like speakers since It has a diff power rating ? Would it blow the speakers?

If I could manage to install the head unit myself I would be saving 50 bucks! And I don't feel like shelling out 50 for something that I can possibly do myself.

After removing the ash tray screw, you just pry off the wood trim, correct? Don't wanna break nothin.


Next will be trying to connect the new HU, I got an adapter harness though.
