Car was just TOWED and Damaged due to tow truck driver's Stupidty

Well some might know I had the Autopage alarm installed after some BASTARD decided to steal $6,000 worth of Mobile Video. Well this morning I woke up because my Autopage LCD Pager was going off, 4:45am. And I was like "shiet...... not again......" So I get dressed quick, me and my brother get some weapons. I got a 15lb 3foot Long 100% authentic Gladiator Sword and haul *** out my apartment.

Long and behold...... I see a tow truck towing my car..... And to make matters even worse? I was running after him trying to catch him so maybe he wont tow it. I did not have the sword at this point, I dropped it. And no he aint see me with it.

GUESS what I saw this BASTARD when he was towing my car? THE BACK WHEELS WERE STILL LOCKED!!!! That is right, he just towed that mofo with the Ebrake still on. He aint even put Dollies on the back wheels, he just took off.

So to make it all even better...... He just towed the joker 10miles. You tell me how much tire is going to be left on a 19" wheel and how much RIM is going to be left?

I mean of all things, I called the tow truck company out of respect and told them "Can you please call your moron of a tow truck driver on a 2way and tell him to either STOP towing the freagin car or put dollies on it?" Dude on the phone was like "I will do that for you" I said I would wait on hold. He said "I will do that once I get off the phone with you. So I know he has already dragged that car WHILE THE FREAGIN alarm is still going off about TWO miles already.

So now I got to leave in 45mins to meet their manager there to acess the damages and a) Cuss the living hell out of them mofos who can tow a car. b) ****ed beyond belief cause this car been in the shop for 1.5months, just got it back 2days ago, and back in the shop again.

I know the tires got a flat spot already, I can just "FEEL" it in my boiling blood right now. And im hoping he aint F up my freagin Ebrake or the rotor or caliper or pads.

That is why I am on here writing to all you cause I sit here and wait as the clock ticks to about 6:30 before I toll out and get ugly.

Dixit

PS. Yall like the sword dont you? That will scare a mofo even with a gun. I got Ninja Katana swords as well.

I wanna see! :D

oh, and ummm... sorry to hear about your predicament... they say bad things come in 3's...

That sword is scary man. This is the 2nd bad story about towing I've heard in the past few weeks. The other was when some ******* tow driver tried just towing a brand new WRX without dollies under the rear wheels. Can you say bye bye rear differential?

I'm really sorry to here about your car, must be especially frustrating running behind him like that. :(

We'll see how frustrated the manager is going to feel when he find out he just F'ed up $3000 in two wheels, and probably broke the eBrake setup, and going to have one ****ed of mofo in his office.

wow that's bull****, that didn't use a flat bed. why did they tow it in the first place, i would have ran the driver off the road with daddy's tundra lol.

Colonel Nov 13, 2002 05:29 AM

Dumb Question?

Why was it being towed in the first place? Not to add to your pain but to understand why the complete dumb**** was towing it in the first place?

I was going to have mine towed one time and it was on the hook and he said gimme money or its gone (my fault, did not feed the meter to get my pick up dinner). I hopped in the car (while on the hook) turned the wheels all the way to the right so it would smash the fence if he tried to pull it. I told him to wait I will be back with cash and also stated that you are responsible for all damamge and you know that. He waited ****ed as a mofo, but I got to keep my car and learned a valuable lesson.

njmaxseltd Nov 13, 2002 06:47 AM

There's a reason why your car got towed.

The person behind that reason is at fault here, not the towing company, they just did their job!

Sorry, but facts are facts. Towing companys don't just randomly pick cars and tow them away.

Why did your car get towed? :gotme:

Y2KevSE Nov 13, 2002 06:55 AM

:(

maxxximus Nov 13, 2002 06:56 AM

njmaxseltd: dood, while there was most likely a reason the tow-truck company hooked up dixit's car in the first place, they had no right to be incompetent about doing the job properly. There is a proper way to tow cars and 100 different lazy ways. In this case, it sounds as though the truck driver choose the lazy way AND picked the wrong mofo to f**k with...

oh and dixit, I feel so bad for you man...I hope you get the resolved painlessly and if you need to deal out some justice (there can be only one after all...) with that sword, I for one wouldn't blame you.

scmaxima2k Nov 13, 2002 07:22 AM

damn man that really sucks. Ive seen so many stupid tow truck drivers. Ive seen them when they are unloading the cars off flat beds in their lot and they basically just floor them in until they hit either a fence or something else. Hope u get this resolved man. :(

there HAS to be a reason it was towed...and since BIG DOG has not mentioned what that was, and clearly inferred that he did not call for the tow...that means the towing company can tow at the request of the property owner etc. and is THEIR agent...they do not owe any carefulness to the vehicle owner who did not employ them to start with. This is particularly true if there are posted signs where the car was or written clauses in leases/association restrictions along the lines of 'towed at the owners expense and risk'.

Yes the story sucks, but we are getting only part of something here.

jjames Nov 13, 2002 08:14 AM

Yeah, I'm kind of wondering this myself. It totally sucks what happened but, there is also a lesson to be learned here.

Before you spend thousands of dollars modding a car to the point where it screams, "I HAVE EXPENSIVE STUFF IN ME". buy a FREAKING HOUSE with a FREAKING GARAGE!.

koostermax Nov 13, 2002 08:24 AM

hmmm...

beginning to sound more like the car was being repoed....

saw a news story on how the repo man tows cars.... it wasn't pretty, especially with front wheel drive cars... it's only a possibility, but the events fits the scenario so the judgement call is yours...

i've would have called the cops if such a thing happened to me for no reason.

who are you to tell other people what their priorities are? Different people wants different things in their lives/proprioties:mad:

Blu Nov 13, 2002 09:12 AM

Why did they tow your car dixit:confused:

maxxximus Nov 13, 2002 09:52 AM

What surprises me is how quickly some here are ready to hate on another member of the Maxima community rather than someone who did not do their job properly.

To say that the tow driver does not need to show the least bit of caution for his tow is ridiculous. He doesn't need to have fresh breath, a plesent disposition, or even a shower for the past couple of days - but he does need to respect his job enough to do it RIGHT. A lot of us on these boards take our cars very seriously (maybe TOO seriously) and are sensitive about them to be sure, but that isn't what this is about. Its about not respecting another's property and being lazy/incompetent. I am NOT a master of towing to be sure, but it seems that using the wheel dollies would be enough to avoid serious damage. How long could that take to hook it up? How hard would it be to bring the right equipment?

If it was dixits fault (I think I will wait until all the facts are in on this thank you very much) does that mean he should suffer having to deal with the extra damage caused or should he have to simply pay for the tow/ticket/whatever?

Finally, all you haters either seem to forget that dixit had all his gear ripped out of his car less than 2 months ago or simply don't care. Seems like a little compassion for his situation is in order...

BigDogJonx Nov 13, 2002 10:00 AM

Calm the F down half you assuming nonsense. It got towed because my Apartment complex implemented a new policy where if you got expired tags they will tow it.

My tags are from Alabama, I did not get around to putting the new sticker on it since the car was in the shop for the past 1month.

I AM NOT DISPUTING THE FACT I was being lazy and did not put on the registration sticker. But that is no excuse for towing the car like a moron who dont know shiet. I told the tow guy I would pay their charge as long as they stop towing the car and put it on dollies. I dont think I said I wanted a free tow anywhere to you people who cant read.

Well after getting there the tires were flat in one spot. I ended up making the Manager getting me new Tires on the spot because there was a tire shop not to far who had them instock. Then the Ebrake handle comes up too high, so that needs to be tightened.

The manager was not actually that bad, she just said we need to wrap it up and get it done with since they just layed new Asphault down and they did not want it getting torn up. I said "ok, no problem"

She did say, if it was the old asphault, she would not have given a damn.

Just f*cking with ya bro'!!! :D

I had an incident involving my car the other night, but I haven't decided how to resolve it yet, so I haven't posted about it. It involved a stupid-a$$ drunk fool throwing a wine bottle. The bottle didn't miss my car by more than two inches, I swear to God!!! Broken glass all up under my car, and my neighbors dope-a$$ Expedition. He left before I got out there, so I didn't get to "talk" to the dude about it. I had my gun with me at the time too! Of course, I'm a Deputy Sheriff, so I almost always have it with me, but this was the first time I've premeditated using it on somebody!!! Turns out, the dude's dad is a Captain with the local Police Department, so I'm gonna speak with him about it, and let him know how close his kid came to being hurt. His dad is kind of a hardcore guy too, so I imagine this will be the end of the problems. We'll see. In the meantime, I hope I don't see the guy out anywhere... too tempted to beat his *** right now!

Damn you a Sheriff, my bad.... Next time I wont come out with the Sword, haha.

Seriously what would you do if you were a cop and you saw me rolling out with one to scare off mofos off my car? What penalty or fine would I be charged with?

Or would you appreciate I picked a nice 39" Gladiator Sword? :)

Two ways.

1. If the Tow Truck Driver KNOWS the Ebrake is off, then he can just lift the front and tow it on the back wheels.

2. If he dont know or knows it is on, then lift the front and put dollies on the rear tires.

when i look under the maxima on the back i see two hooks there...is it safe to lift the back and tow it on the front wheels with the transmission in neutral and the ebrake off...?

God no, because techinally the driveshafts are still spinning and that is not good for towing. NOT RECOMMENDED but seen that done as well.

Those hooks are ment for sorta pulling the car out a ditch or helping the tow guy pull it up the flat bed, or for my purpose, taking it to the dyno shop and holding the car down :)

Cant say for sure, but all I know is that it aint right to do. It states that in the manual, like if you were to tow the car behind the RV or something similar, you have to disconnect the driveshafts. Something like that.
