That's too weird...(way long)

So I'm out messing around in the 2k3, seeing if with the RSB and FSTB it can take some local nasty curves at 3x the recommended speed (it can, with way more composure than me). Then, thinking about some recent posts on the autos shifting too early before redline, I decided to test how fast it'll shift once the next gear is selected. I shift into 2 and punch it, but don't have time to wind it up before a 4-way intersection.

So slow down and stop, and then something really weird happened. After turning onto the next road, the low-end seems a lot weaker than normal. The normal feeling of acceleration doesn't start until about 4k, and then it feels just decent. Thinking that I must be imagining things, we drive around for a while longer and get to a deserted 4-way stop. I floor it across the intersection, expecting the usual 2k3 shredding of tires all the way across (don't usually do this with a car, but while the Potenzas suck I can't rationalize just throwing them away and buying new tires; so I guess burning them off is a passive/aggressive way of getting there - what can I tell you?). Nope - a mild spin, dying quickly to a chirp, then "decent" acceleration.

Maybe it's just a road with good traction, so a little later we try again - same thing. Yikes! Pulling into a parking lot, I decided to try switching off and then restarting. Did it, and voila! Normal max again (complete with nasty burning smell from tires).

What the hell? Since when does an engine need a reboot? Any ideas? :gotme:
