What's more important to you?

Here's a poll that should be interesting. I want to find out if there is more gearheads then people that just want a phat looking car. So here are the choices.

The Graphics came off and the supercharger went in.

Very impressive... How much does a SC go for? I would imagine it's a pretty penny.

I say go fast or go home...looks are important as long as it doesn't slow you down....aka, heavy wheels, bodykits, wings, cut springs, etc....

A lot of people have a lot of "Go" but they never use it, just brag about it, a big waste of money in my opinion. Get to the ficken track dammit!

A line I read in a forum once, "A Show Car Is Like A Sweet 19 Year Old That Doesn't Put Out" so true....but hey it's their money so they can do what they want. I just hate the silly Magazine/Forum racing that goes on endlessly....anyways I copuld go on and on.

how do you like your JIC's?

KLOOGY Dec 26, 2002 09:12 PM

I require a lot of show, and some go.. Thats the way we do it in So Cal though. When you roll up to a club, no one cares how fast you run ..... ..But you want to be able to kick some A$$ too !

MaxRPM Dec 26, 2002 09:31 PM

Love them! best suspenion money can buy for the Maxima. The FLT-A2s are overkill for the street but if it won't hurt your bank go for them, if you go to the track want the best they are a must and not much more then buying the Spirngs, Dampers and Cambers kit seperately and you still get more then what that can provide you.

more show = more attention and it can be from someone who wants to race you or it can be from someone who wants to pull u over.

Well Kloogy I think your car is one of the leaders in the 5th gen class.

Re: What's more important to you?

Couldn't get the poll to take my vote (all performance).

I'm a big fan of the "sleeper" approach. It's a bit like poker, where you don't tip your hand or otherwise let on that there's more than meets the eye. From a time when "If it don't go - chrome it" was a serious insult, I guess . . .

Drum ROll please....

All go and some show ---

This is my second max....what can I say???

Of course I want more under the hood and wheels wells - but I also don't want to get raped everytime I do to the dealership.

HerBlue2kSE Dec 27, 2002 06:20 AM

All go and little show

I am with Norm...... give me performance and a nice looking car with little changes with factory parts (or look factory) and I am a happy camper. Maybe that is part of my muscle car roots! :D I have added the AE door sills (pedals are ordered), 2k2 tails and have the clear markers on the way. Other than that nothing else will be done to the exterior or interior of the car. I would much rather spend $ on exhaust/handling/etc on any vehicle.

I hope when Max fans look at the Satin Blue SE she drive they think "Hum.... something is different about this one. Clear markers, new tails...... nice personal touch! Makes it look classie!":wall:

A comfortable mix of both for me

Linh Dec 27, 2002 10:01 AM

Well so far people prefer all go and some show.

Qmax03 Jul 10, 2004 08:32 AM

show show + a lil go so you dont get dusted

5 spd Jul 10, 2004 12:25 PM

all go with factory look. a semi sleeper, if you will.

alicious Jul 10, 2004 02:23 PM

a sleeper, that looks good too. Basically what 5 spd said.

jaco Jul 10, 2004 02:28 PM

i'm going for all show - some go.
if you think about it, you'll use the go factor two maybe three times a week. but everytime you drive your car people are looking at you, so why not make them stare?

MyownNismo Jul 10, 2004 02:33 PM

Holy back from the grave batman. Who dug this one one from two years ago.

MaximaPolak Jul 10, 2004 07:37 PM

Some show but mostly go....

Look at my sig....the pic i mean....

JC_2k_SE Jul 10, 2004 08:16 PM

i lean towards the 'all show, some go'... love getting those looks and still being able to prove it on the road

housecor Jul 10, 2004 08:51 PM

Clean sleepers for sure - Nothing beats humbling some punk in a Stang with a seemingly stock 4 door.

Jay93SE Jul 11, 2004 04:15 AM

"Those who can, do. Those who can't, show" that is all.

irish44j Jul 11, 2004 07:46 AM

how about "some go," "a little show," and some $$ still in my wallet to spend on other things.....

Deckdout2 Jul 11, 2004 10:42 PM

I don't know, I kinda like the whole.....All go and make the Show look good while doing it.......

I want to be able to feed as much power as I can, that's respectable and tasteful.....which is where the show comes in to match......kinda like a sleeper, but still distinguishable, so that when you pull up to someone, they know you put alot of work into her, and know that she might not be something to reckon with!!! :-)

KLOOGY Jul 11, 2004 11:39 PM

All show and some go for me. I live in So Cal, and when you roll up to a club, no one cares what you run, as long as your system bumps, your wheels are big, and you got chedda.........I still enjoy having some speed, but I rather bling myself to valet................

SoonerFan Jul 12, 2004 04:00 AM

all go with stock looks. hey i bought the car cause it looked good.
and like others said - sleeper look. i dont want my car to "look" fast. i want it to BE fast.
and i dont need to bling up the outside to impress people. if i "roll up to the club" i could care less if people think im a "big baller" cause i have big wheels and a loud stereo. honestly why do people care? will they respect you more? buy you drinks? what benefit do you get from getting attention when you roll up? that never made sense to me. im confident enough as a person that i dont need that to boost my self esteem.
im not saying that people that go for show have low self esteem. just giving my opinion.

SoonerFan Jul 12, 2004 04:03 AM

i guess the "all show" people arent voting. 5%?? we all know there are more out there.

Deckdout2 Jul 12, 2004 05:23 AM

why can you not have all go and all show at the same time? wouldn't it be sweet if your ride was ballzout fast, and looked good while doing it. i'm sure most of you feel this way, it just depends on how deep your pockets are.

SoonerFan Jul 12, 2004 05:45 AM

thats hard to do. looks tend to take away from performance (bigger wheels etc)
its a fine line. if you want performance you can only do looks that wont take away from performance

It kina erks me when people say stuff like this. Yeah, 40lb chrome spinners may inhibit performance, but there are plenty of big (17,18,19") wheels that are lightweight. If you keep overall wheel/tire weight the same you will get BETTER performance: Better grip, faster acceleration, and crisper handling.

I cant see a body kit hindering performance too much as long as you arent bolting 3ft aluminum wings on. A well designed kit could actually improve aerodynamics, but I doubt they have any recordable effects.

I understand what you are saying, but I think you are taking it to the extreme.

I like tastfull tuning. Nothing that screams "Look At Me!", but subtle mods that set your car apart. And of course the performance to make you smile on a clear mountain highway... or make the kid in the gaudy Accord cry.

So because you want all go that doesn't mean you want to boost your self-esteem? You could say the same thing about the all go people as well. Just makes no sense.

irish44j Jul 12, 2004 07:17 PM

also to consider the 'all show' look also gets some kinds of attention you may not want:

1. cops - bling car is more likely to get pulled over than a normal lookin max....
2. ricers - who wants attention from ricers?
3. theives - if your whip looks bling, than you probably have alot of nice things inside worth stealing.....

BlackBIRDVQ Jul 12, 2004 09:11 PM

Go with very little to no show. Unless lots of CF pieces is rice... -then I want some of that too.

MrGone Jul 12, 2004 11:59 PM

how many times is this thread going to be bumped? lol

its diffirent
ALL SHOW (to get attention from everyone. not other drivers, just anyone around)
why do people do all show? its so people will look at them. just look at what people wrote on here for their rational. thats just an example
"when you roll up to a club, no one cares what you run, as long as your system bumps, your wheels are big, and you got chedda"
"everytime you drive your car people are looking at you, so why not make them stare?"

ALL GO (to get the attention of other drivers that you humble)
"Clean sleepers for sure - Nothing beats humbling some punk in a Stang with a seemingly stock 4 door."
"all go with factory look. a semi sleeper, if you will."

me personaly, i could care less if people turn their heads when i drive by. i can tell you now that when you roll by with your all show bling car with your stereo thumping 90% of people are saying "what a jack@ss."
