Dealer says idle can't be adjusted on 2002

I have a 2002 SE that seems to idle a little rough. Otherwise, the car runs fine. At the last oil change I asked the dealer to adjust the base idle up a little to make the idle smoother (currently idles at about 650 rpm). Dealer claims that the idle can't be adjusted on the 2002. Is this true?

Horsepucky. Using the CONSULTII tool,

ANYTHING on this car can be adjusted...idle, ignition timing (within a range) etc etc etc. Find another dealer or demand to talk to the service mgr...

How bout on the 2000 SE Automatic with the 3.0 motor?? I would like to have my idle adjusted up a 150rpms or so. This really easy for the dealer?

Yes, I've a 3-liter as well and upped my

idle by 25 rpms and bumped up my timing advance by two degrees..

did the dealer have to download any additional software to enable them to do it? i was told that 2k2 could be changed from the beginning but 2k and 2k1 needed some software.

Don't know if it's different for 2k3, but my dealer said they could dial up the idle speed, just not the mixture etc. Presumably it's through the Consult tool.

No software, nothing...just plug the car into

the Consult II tool and tap (instructions) away.
Dat dealer is WAY IGNORANT!

What kind of gains does this give you? Or does it just smooth the idle?

my 2k2 has a little bit of a rough idle too... i never got around to bringing it in though, i dont really like dealing with the service departments... when i had them change my MAF the 2nd time, they also did the transverse link recall.. well when i picked up my car, from resetting the battery the trip odometer was reset, and there was 2 miles on it i think... they must have test drove it after the alignment, and when i checked the average mpg, it was like 11!
tell me how you can test the alignment with your foot to the floor... if i realized it while i was still at the dealership i would have gave them **** about it, but i was already a few blocks away
