Yea all springs settle a little. My maxspeeds settled about 1/4" in the rear and almost 1/2" in the front.

Thanks for the reply Dixit. The reason why I ask is because my a s s still can't decide on a suspesion set-up for my car. My firt choice was to do a basic shock/spring set-up:H&R's and Tokico's or Progress and Tokico's. Then I heard about coilovers:JIC's and Tein's. I can't decide for nuthin'. I just want a low, comfortable, non-scraping ride that will be able to handle daily driving.

I have H&Rs, I can't tell if my springs settled at all. Seems to be the same since the install.

kpark: How long have you had them installed?

KiLLeR2002se Jan 18, 2003 07:55 AM

ive had maxspeeds for about 3 months. They settled about 1/4 - 1/2 "
But I havent seen my car in 3 weeks :bawling:

I've had H&R's for about 6 month and can't tell........

CJLax Jan 18, 2003 10:05 AM

H&R's with stock struts front ,KYB in rear

Had this combo installed around 5 months ago and no change in stance since install. Close to stock ride and not very low if thats what your looking for. Mine is a daily driver (approx 100miles daily) and I enjoy the ride a lot. It handles much better than stock but still close to it. Replaced the rear shocks due to bottoming out and left the front shocks stock,no problem so far. With H&R's I've been told that the rear looks lower than the front. Not by much and for the increased handling well worth it. Hope this helps a little.

My Eibachs seemed to have settled a bit

more in the rear than in the front. If they have, it's not much at all, perhaps half an inch or so...

Good to know the maxspeeds settle. I really like how they look on a lot of 5gs, but some, not so hot.

MichaelAE Jan 18, 2003 04:20 PM

I measured my H&R's after six months and they did not settle any measurable amount. The measurements at the front lip and rear valence were identical in centimeters.

the paragon Jan 18, 2003 04:23 PM

yep, they settled

I've had them a while now. It's been 6+ months for sure. The Tokico blues I have are really soft. I can feel them compress all the way and hit almost everyday.

...I've had my H&R's for 9+ months now, they settled about 1/4" rear and almost 1/2" front from the first day I installed until now. They look nice, still ride great, and I am still on stock struts & shocks so if anyone tells you the stock are gonna blow out with lowering springs don't believe 'em! :D

...As long as your struts & shocks are in almost new condition when you install springs you should be good for a long while. 'Course the best thing to do is still all in one shot. I will get around to struts//shocks eventually.

One thing I will say is if you get used to a lowered car every day when you see a stock 2002 Max it looks like an SUV with all that wheel gap! :p It makes a difference...

This is how low of a drop I want on my car? Anyone know who's car is this and what set-up does this member have?

Looks really similar to the drop Maxspeed/H&R. I just can't see spending more than double for H&R's over Maxspeeds though. I mean think about it you can buy the maxspeeds and have them installed for about the cost of the H&R's alone.

First I had Eibachs for several months, they settle a lot and made the car look perfect. I recently switched over to H&R (2 weeks ago) and they haven't settled at all and the wheel wells are about 3 fingers higher in the front and 1 finger higher in the back.

18's, Maxspeed springs on stock struts with 29K miles...actually a better ride compared to my old 2K SE (Maxspeeds with Tokico blows)
