Turbo Complete, that right Im now Turbo'ed!!!

Pics of the TURBO

Well, finally did it and it is finished. The pics above show the layout. This is a t3/t04 .63ar turbo on a 2001 SE Auto.

This was done by the infamous HAROLD (www.hlh0501.com). Gave the car to him Sat Feb15 and picked it up ONE WEEK LATER on Feb22. Yes that is right, the ENTIRE Turbo from the ground up was custom installed in exactly FIVE DAYS.

Also done was the Front Mounted Intercooler. That was installed without cutting of the frame or anything. Only drawback was the loss of my foglights. Also was installed was a 3" exhaust from the Catalytic Convertor. Also installed Blitz Turbo Timer that was discretely installed in the "ash tray". Also a boost gauge and a/f gauge installed.

The feels great even snow I was driving in snow, once the roads were cleared I floored it from 70 and it went to 120 extremely quick. Right now at the moment Im pushing only 5psi. Plan on pushing that upto 8psi by the end of the week and then dyno tuning it 2weeks from now.

For those of you that feel this COULD NOT BE DONE, well feast your eyes on the pics and eat your words.

Thanks to Hal and the intense work that was involved this project was done with almost no issues. Only issue I had was the two rear o2 sensors that had to be moved to behind the cat to keep from getting a check engine light. No big deal.

If you guys are interested, check Hal's website out for information on his kit. www.hlh0501.com.

Cost? Where does this come from? Who said modding is cheap? You cant get 100whp from a Ypipe. Its takes money to be in the big boys of performance.

Congrats. It must be fun as hell to drive.

Any idea if a VQ35 kit is in the works?

Hal told me he could do the VQ35DE, either auto or manual trannies...I might have him do my Dakota as well. Might as well give him something else to do Plus, the Dakota world needs a good turbo kit.

How is that too much when you can crank it upto 12psi and get damn near 270 whp from it?

270WHEEL HP doesnt seem like alot? What kinda crack you smoking? That is some major amount of HP to be adding to any car's wheels.

SC would get you there, but takes MAJOR work. Pulley size of 2.6" or even smaller. Also intercooled.

You do realize that's and additional 270 wheel HP on top of what the car made before, right?

Let's break out the trusty abacus... What a value!

270hp @12psi compared to 175hp = 155% increase to 445hp or thereabouts

Let's throw in some round trip travel fare and a rental car and make it a generously round $5000 to get it installed.
That's still less than $20/hp

At the "base' 100hp gain, it's $50/hp, which is what people pay for some exhausts, let alone intake-y-cat-b-exhaust. Don't forget the labor.

egads! too bad that's more than my car's worth!

why would 'value' come up at all in this thread? Value is a 130hp civic/tercel that will get you to work just fine. $3-5K isnt alot of mod money. You realize thats like two sets of rims? or what many people spend on a modest high end audio setup?

As far as the 'more than what my car is worth', not everybody thinks of their car in blue book terms. Again, youre probably in the wrong thread if you think that way.

Congrats Dixit, I hope this is the reliable HP you were looking for (gotta be better than the SC issues people have). Looks like a tight setup. Although from the pics, it doesnt appear that he wrapped the pipes on your install.

I agree with Tim...NICE DECISION, DIXIT!

Now...I'll wait a year for you to report back on reliability issues/things that have come up. By then I'll be able to decide if the $4k is worth it. (I live in Columbus, OH...so Lexington isn't too far for me.)

P.S....I'm definitely going to start a flame war, but I'd rather keep and TURBO my 2k1 5spd than to go to a newer '02-'03 6spd. Just my opinion.

I dont know how cost comes up in this Joyful celebration of a Turbo. HHahaha..

Yeah Hal doesnt wrap them, that is upto you the customer to do so. No biggie, Im just looking for the best wrap. Ive seen a few but dont know which is better, the one Kev has is more like a first aid tape style.

He said above that they could do a VQ35DE auto or manual...

Since I'm in the Louisville area, do you think they need a '02 for test fitment and testing purposes?

Nice looking kit! Keep us updated on your tests...
