Maxima on 20's
If you put 20 inch rims on a maxima does it look low or would u have to lower it?
|
It cleans up the gap, but it drives high as hell...

dont buy dubs unless you plan on lowering it.
|
Down here in Miami and all around South Florida i've seen about 10 or more (no lie, well not all 5th gens)Maximas on dubs, you could clearly tell which are dropped and stock cause the stock still have about an 1 to 2 inch gap with the twankys on. I know some guy that has a new Altima on 20z and its dropped with Eibachs, and theres no rub. He does have low profile tires though.

I live in Mia too, and see Maximas on 20's too, but they have no drop...

Originally posted by HitManSE Yes it would, but u might want to be cautious of the fender and the tire rubbing depending on how low u go. U might have to roll the fender. The best tire size would be 245/30 to most closly match the stock size wheel so ur speedo wont be off. That size is 0.3% off which is the closest ur gonna get with 20's. Perhaps maxspeed springs will work fine, it doesnt lower the car much. A bit over and inch if I remember correctly but still has a nice ride to it. |
always lower it if u want it to look better and how much to 20 inch wheels cost?

Thanks for your help

no matter how big the rim is, the overall diameter (tire+rim) will stay more or less the same, thats why you will have to lower it in order for it to look "normal"
|
Originally posted by max'n out ACually no 245-35 is fine, and it depends on the offset more than anything, all the max's with 20"s are clearing fine with the normal drops and coilover drops. |
Originally posted by HitManSE Acutally yeah that size will also work, but the point being is that size will actually cause a slight loss in power that u may or may not feel. Dont get me wrong it will work just robs more power. 245/35 will give a slightly better ride due to the thicker sidewall but when ur speedo sez 60mph, ur goin 62.1 thats 3.5% too slow. Id personally have mine 245/30 with 20's and have my speedo 0.3% too fast then 3.5% too slow. Its all a matter of what the driver wants but I still say the best choice for dubs is the 245/30 is speedo accuracy and keepin power intact.:D |
Originally posted by max'n out This whole damn power loss thing is getting out of control, not everybody drives in a straight line and never turns let it go. The bottom line is 255-35 has been done on 20's lowerd alot and is fine. And the offset plays the bigest role in it not rubbing inside. And the speedo can be adjusted. |
Originally posted by HitManSE Dude dont get me wrong, im not tryin to argue with u, that size will work and yeah ive also heard of 255 being used as well. I just think its alot easier to just get a size nerly equal to stock and not worry about adjusting the speedo. Yeah u can adjust it but id rather just leave it alone this is my .02 on it and thats it. What u stated will aslo work and will offer a better ride to be honest due to the fact ur ridin on more air. The power loss can also be beaten with mods but I just like having more power but if u dont care and just wanna cruise then who cares get whatever size u want. Just wondering but what do u think would be the best offset for 245/35/19? 35mm or 40mm.:) |
Originally posted by max'n out 35 will make it stick out further than the 40 but both work it's up to you, i run a 39 and am happy with that, but some prefer to make it further out and 35 would do that but thats to much for my taste. |
Originally posted by HitManSE Hmm, u see the reason I as is im gonna get 19's really soon. Im most probably gonna go with 19x8.5 Zenetti Phantom. U said ur at a 39mm offset but exactly what size are ur rims and how wide? aslo what springs if u dont mind me askin. |
Originally posted by max'n out 19x8.5 volk racing Av3's, 245-35 yokohama avs sports, cattman coilovers. Use the link in my sig, and use the arrows at the top to scan to the pics of the car there not great but they will give you an idea, double click the pics at teh top to blow um up. |
Originally posted by HitManSE  Damn dude, no doubt in my mind that ur ride is one of the sickest ive seen period. Very nice setup on everything, especially the hidden deck. Its kinda hard to tell from the pics but do the rims go in flush with the fender if u stand in front of the car and look straight at. Thats what im goin for, Im just more worried about the drop more then anything due to the body kit, I dont wanna scrape it everywere. Once again man sweet ride and thnx 4 more info. |
Originally posted by max'n out It sits as flush as I consider safe...Meaning that if you put your finger on the inside of the fender, (not the inner fender but the peice that rolls down and you see) the rim will touch your finger, so it sits just back off of that, if it where out further with it being so low, it when you drive it, it would send the rim rite into it and distroy the fender. Did that all make sence? |
Originally posted by HitManSE Im still workin on the making sense part:D ok....uhh.......so the rim basically is equal to the....hmmm. Ok I think u mean the rims sits just slightly back of the edge of the fender (the one u can see from the outside I think is what u meant) Ok do u mean the outside edge of the fender of the inside edge? I think u mean the inside part but not 100% sure. |
Originally posted by max'n out Pretty close yeah, basically its flush, but theres a fingernail gap that prevents it from hitting the acual fender(painted) as aposed to the inner fender(black unpainted rubber). Its just that the acual outer fender has that lip that rolls just under and in, thats what it's at. http://superbuytires.com/wheels_by_b...is&model=SE7EN http://superbuytires.com/wheels_by_b...&model=Phantom |
Originally posted by HitManSE Alright that makes more sense, now i know exactly what u man. sweet thanks 4 the info again. Now I need to decide on which wheels to get every1 ive asked like either 1 or the either, and its been a 50/50 im probably gonna post a poll to get a better out put soon. But out of these two which do u personally like more. Thanx.:D http://superbuytires.com/wheels_by_b...is&model=SE7EN http://superbuytires.com/wheels_by_b...&model=Phantom |
