Any blacked out HID's?
Anybody tried blacking out their HID's like the AE headlights? If so pics would be appreciated.

I saw those somewhere and I can't remember where but I'll look some more. And those 2002-2003 headlights look sweeeeet when they are blacked out like that.

I remember seeing someone who had this done a few months ago. I'll look to see if I can find it. They did open it up to take the reflector off, and then simply painted the rest of the housing.

to say "open them up" is all fine and dandy, but we must realize what exactly opening them up really entails;
you need to heat the housing, let the silicone (glue) get soft and pry apart the lens and do what you gotta do and then re-seal them back up. Now this sounds all fine and dandy but when you get down to it, how do you know that when you're putting them back together, you're going to get that "water tight" seal that the headlights came with?? I for one live in NY and even though the weather is getting quite seasonable (FINALLY), I don't really want to risk running into an issue with condensation once the weather turns cold again. these are issues that IMO need to be addressed |
KPazzo6 did his and he had to open the housing in order to do it. You might want to drop him a PM in order to get the full writeup on it.

Originally posted by GoldMember I cleared out my 2k2 headlights and sealed them back with 100% silicon, I have had no problems with condensation in my housing. It rained 4 days straight after i did them to. All you have to do is take your time on them and you'll be fine. |
