So what does the ghetto air box mod do that a frankencar intake won't?

? why such increased performance outta the GAB vs. the Frankencar or any other aftermarket intake for that matter?

Removing the OEM airbox and replacing it with any aftermarket intake and filter will improve air flow into the engine. The airbox restricts air flow.

but you sacrafice low end toruqe loss right?

on hot days, the car is really slow

2001SE... I've read that too.. why is that? Why does the intake kill the low end tork?

Y2KSESteve Mar 29, 2003 10:14 AM

I just switched to the ghetto airbox from the Frankencar and I dont plan to switch back. Torque is better now than it ever has been and it sounds just as good. I've had the Injen, Frankencar, and now this and this is by far better.

GAB = Ghetto Air Box. You pretty much just cut the top of the air box off to increase airflow. Kind of like taking you air filter out with the air filter holder thing-a-ma-jig, and taping the filter back in without the holder thing-a-ma-jig.

This does everything an aftermarket intake does, besides looking cool, and increasing your risk of MAF failure.

Before you ask, MAF = Mass Air Flow sensor. :)

any problems with your MAF yet? If so, are you worried about it? How much extra power does it "feel" like you've gained w/ the GAB?

Y2KSESteve Mar 29, 2003 05:56 PM

No problems with MAF, 2k-2k1 MAFs own. :D I gained low endtorque without a doubt.
