is your tailight out??
I Don't know if the bulbs that nissan put in have reached the end of their life spand but I noticed a lot of 5th gens with one burnt taillight. First it was me, then this maxima flew by me on I-4, on my way back from Spring Break Nationals, then 2 more today.
I think there a pattern.
Nobody probably cares but just kinda interesting to think about!!!:o

one of my tailights went out, the light only came on when i pushed the brake, the lower filament was out. So i replace it a few days ago, now the other filament doesnt work in this new bulb, it doesnt light up when I push the brake , it only works with the headlights on. :confused:

I actually had my first tail light blow out two days ago.

I had my left brake light blow too.. And I popped in a new bulb like maybe 9 months ago too..

my right one went out like in the first year...but since then, they'll still working...knock knock knock :D

sounds like either a contact is dirty on the harness or something is loose...check your connections

Same here, my rear left tail light wasn't working in January unless I applied the brakes.
At first, fiddling with the connector was enough to get the light back on, however, after fiddling with it twice a week for 2 weeks, I finally got a chance to take it in to the dealership. By then, fiddling with it no longer worked because the bad connector had burned out the bulb. A new connector and a new bulb made it all go away (all under warranty of course).
Therefore, I believe there's an actual problem with the connector which ends up burning the bulb.

That's just my experience.

You wanna notice something really weird???

Look at fullsize chevy trucks, tahoes, and suburbans, the new body styles (i think 1999 - to present). It's much worse on the trucks though....

One of the front DRL's are almost ALWAYS out! Just pay attention next time you drive...it's amazing...I would say maybe 75 - 80% of them will have a burned out light. (though it seems on the newest ones, 2002 and better, they may have cured the problem)

1st gen altimas are even worse.

I've noticed that myself - what a peice of crap.

One car in particular has got to be the worst - it's the Chevy Malibu (Olds has a version of this car too). There are two bulbs per side on the tail lights and one is almost always out if not more.

This is definitely one thing that drives me crazy - when people's lights are burned out. My neighbors '96 Altima had most of it's lights out so I finally offered to get the bulbs for them and do it. The last thing they need is to get rear-ended because their lights don't work.

One of the local quick-lube places has mirrors setup in the bay so when you pull in they check all your bulbs as part of their inspection. A nice touch - especially for people who are so clueless. You think more lube places would do this - they could make some serious dough changing bulbs!

Same here, got pulled over the first day with my license becasue of that.

One of my tail lights went out a few weeks ago. After replacing it the other one went out. After replacing both the first one went out again, this time I dropped the bulb inside the housing (it's still in there). I have too many electrical problems with this car.

Only problem is that the only time you ever get pulled over for burnt out tailight is when you got a baggy with a half ounce in your lap, steering with your left hand, while hittin it up in your right hand... I MEAN...:laugh:

I have noticed that on the Chevys and GMCs and I think it has to do something with the wiring. We have a Chevy Suburban and it freaking changes which one is burnt out. One day I saw my mom driving and I told her the right one was out, next time I saw her the right one was lit and the left one was out, and no one had fixed the burnt bulbs! :eek:

Shoot, my drive side tail light went the same week I bought the car. Got it swapped and its been strong ever since (18 months now).

I have noticed that here in Dallas "truck capital", and have also noticed the burnt out Maxima taillights. Most of the ones I see are 00/01 GXE/GLE's with one burned out.

the taillights (both) on my max and Pathfinder went out within the first year.. the walmart replacements have been fine for the last 2.5 years... cheap OEM bulb

hahaha, walmart is the ****e. Have you ever noticed how quality some of the car products that walmart and target sell are? Its surprising!
