What's the size of speakers in the back doors?

Crutchfield says 5 1/4. Is that right?

It's 5.25" but in an adapter made to fit a 6.5" hole. So you can use 6.5" without any problems.

Yes, a 5.25 would fall through the door in the rear. If you wanted a 5.25, u'd need to G-rig it, or you could just get 6.5s. :)

Thanks!

On the 2k3 the size is 5.25" with 6.5" fitting no problem with an adapter. Are you referring to a 2k-2k1?

I would think it would be a gigantic pain in the arse. Aside from cutting holes in the sheet metal, you'd have to steer clear of the child seat restraints and more than likely they wouldn't br isometrically placed.

You can always get the speaks that mount on the top of the rear deck (if you like the look).

So I'm still a litlle comfused. I'm getting a pair of Kicker componet speakers and I was told to get 6 1/2" for the front and 5 1/4" for the back. Is this right or is 6 1/2" going to be a perfect fit all around.

You can use either. I'm going 6 1/2 all around.

Who ever has aftermarket speakers did you end up having to dynomat all the doors for better sound, or did you just leave it as is?

How do you use component speakers all the way around? Usually just for the front with the tweeters.

raymond3414 May 1, 2003 11:41 AM

They mad a custom hole for it, right to left of the door handle, or you can get those tweeters that have a adhesive on the back of them.

I had to dynomat (well, Peal & Seal) the trunk and use matress foam for the rear deck, but the doors I left as is. I figured the gain would not outweigh the work involved. No rattles in the doors, speakers sound great!
