I've Been Offered A G35C for my Maxima
 

Here's the deal:
Someone is willing the trade his fuly loaded 6-speed G35 Coupe (2,500 miles) for my 2003 Maxima SE AUTO (5,800 miles) + $$$.

This guy doesn't seem to be happy with his G35 and he is asking me to make an offer first. How much extra cash should I shell out?

Look on edmunds or kbb to check the retail value of both cars. Cars depreciate 15% on average as soon as they're driven off the dealer lot. Also, you might want to make sure that his car is in perfect condition unless you know the guy and trust him. I would think that if he's the one interested in exchanging he should be the one taking the hit. But it should be more than what the dealer would give him.

Trade it....trust me you will love the G35 Rwd..and esp the 6speed!!!!!!:D

wow...sounds like an awesome deal, but be careful, he might have abused the living daylights out of that car without you knowing.

I've tried kbb.com, and it doesn't have any information on the G35C, or any 2003 Infinitis for that matter. So I guess I'll have to deal with the pain of negotiations.

depends what options he has on his G35 and what options you have on your Max

if you have a bottom of the line automatic and he has the top of the line 6 speed with navigation the msrps differ by almost 10 grand so go figure there..

on the other hand if you have a mildly equiped Max and he has a non navigation g35 i would say offering your Max and 5 grand is a fair offer

considering that the g35 6 speed is a fawking beast

Find out as much as possible the reason(s) why this guy is not happy with his G35c. Bring it to a mechanic or AAA diagnotic centers to have it checked out before closing the deal. Have an idea of the max you're willing to shell out for the G35 (after doing research), then ask him how much he's willing to sell it for. You can probably go from there.

You need to find out what the balance due is on the G, along with a look at his paper work from the sale. He may have put hardly anything down and has high payments. If there was a similar amount put down as yours then look at the payments and see if you can afford it. Remember that any cash you give him doesn't go against the principal and the payment will stay the same.
After all this you are still interested I would take his car for a test drive. While your out with it get the oil changed and have some sent off for analysis, tell the company that is doing the analysis the situation and see if the can rush it. If all looks good then proceed have a bill of sale or transfer of responsible party (?) drawn up, you may also want to have a good talk with the company that is holding your note and ask them how they'd like to proceed. I'm sure they will want to run his credit as his will yours. If you don't have a lawyer look over everything at it at least have it notarized.

Good luck, deals like this don't come around often.

Hmmmmm....A car that drives like a dream (my Maxima)...or my current dream car (G35 Coupe)...

If the cost for the G35C was resonable and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, I'd be on its a*s like a pair of fruit-of-the-looms. :D
