anyone dropped on 235/40/18's??

just as subject states....I would prefer maxspeeds just to answer my question of "will my car look stupid with 235/40's?"

The wheels I am currently looking at have 235/40's already mounted and I want to know if I'lll have tooo much fender gap and/or tires looking too small for car...

thanx

Igor911 Jul 16, 2003 07:15 AM

maxcosity Jul 16, 2003 07:53 AM

I have 235/40/18x8.5 and maxspeeds. I wish I went lower, but it looks good.

I had 245/45/18 with maxspeeds and I had two fingers in the front and back. Now I have 245/40/19 and I have about 1 1/2 fingers, but which ever way it looks good.

And as Igor911 said you should go with 245's.

Nice

Curl...245/45/18 and 245/40/19 both did not rub in rear with maxspeeds??? thats great to know.... 2k2nyc I thought was the only guy on here with 245/45/18 and he doesn't rub but he's on H&R....

ajahearn Jul 16, 2003 09:27 AM

My car would hit (back quarterpanel weld seem) with 245/45/18 on my 02 (eibach pro's). My wheels had a 30 offset. Hope this helps.

Yeah no rubbing, also keep in mind that the offset on the 18's (18x8) was 37 and the offset on the 19's (19x8.5)is 40.

Also I decided to just get new rim and not fix the 18's.
So everything worked out good. I got new rims, taking the cruise and starting to look at condos. Yes all is good in the Johnson home :D

Nt, considering that you and I both live in major cities where potholes are a constant concern, you really should consider 245/40/18. That's what I am looking at for my '02.

OT but, Prinz, I just have to say you are one of the nicest and most helpful mods on here.....you don't let the power get to your head...I appreciate it bro...

I'm on this setup now - no pics taken, but I'm sure I can get a couple to you this weekend. PM me if interested.

The Maxspeeds aren't the lowest, but the drop is pretty even, and the ride is acceptable for NJ's awful roads.

mingo Jul 17, 2003 05:09 AM

i had that and it looked alright.. the fronts could have been a little lower though.. and 235's are fine without rubbing. also depends on ur wheel offset.. my 245's rubbed on the inner fender well (fronts) when i turned the wheel all the way. my offset is 38 (i think)

mykmar10 Jul 17, 2003 06:47 AM

I have 245/40-18's with H&R springs and I don't have any rubbing issues at all.
