Question about HID's

I'm a newbie to this forum hello to everyone. I have a 02' Maxima. I haven't gotten my headlights stolen "yet" so I want to buy the AE headlights and slap those headlights on when I go to a high risk area, and any other time I'll put on the factory 02' headlights. Is this an easy process to do? Are the AE headlights an exact fit or is there any alteration needed. Do I need to buy anything else. Thanks..

You're better off just putting on the AE's and leaving them on, switching back and forth in my mind would be way too much work. And odds are if you live in NJ or NY, no matter whether you live in a nice town or not, they still take the HIDs, so just put the AE's on and have peace of mind.

I wouldn't put them on just yet. I'd wait for mine to get stolen before doing so, if not, are you just going to let the HIDs sit there.

Does anyone know where I could purchase a pair of AE headlights?

I have my HIDs sitting in my room, mine were stolen and I replaced them with the AE's which I bought but insurance still paid for the HIDs.If I could do it all over again, I would've put on the AE's before the HIDs got stolen to avoid having my car sitting in a shop for a week. But that's just me.

So insurance gave you a complementary pair of HIDs?

No, my car is a lease, so I need to put the HIDs back when I give the car back in, so I paid for the AE lights and insurance paid for the HIDs.

Nothing is "complimentary" from the insurance company. You pay for them one way or another, usually by a higher premium next time you renew.

I've been somewhat considering this alternative option for quite sometime now. As nice as the HID's are, sometimes, I just can't get any piece of mind no matter what area I park in (good or bad) and for how long. I'm always looking out the window, I've contemplated a pager alarm at one pt, but what's the use if you're parked farther away then you want to be, and it doesn't page you. As mentioned in tons of other threads about HID theft, it doesn't take that long to rip them off, so you may not be able to get back time to catch the crook who did it.
