raced my friend's Mazda6 last night

My stock (engine-wise) 2001 GLE vs his stock 2003 mazda 6, both auto. We both had 2 people in the cars.

First race:
He was using tip-tronic. We both had a little bit of wheelspin on our starts but we were neck and neck for almost a block, then i started to pull and i had about half of my car out in front of him before we shut it down.

Second race:
No tip-tronic. Same wheelspin. By one block my entire car was in front of him and we had to shut it down because of a red light at the next block.

RSB, springs/shocks is night and day. I need light wheels and tires now.

So I'm guessing a 5 speed Mazda6 would spank an auto 00-01 Max...

Yep. I have an 01'SE. A red 6 beat me by a car. 5.0 at the next light kept us from a second run. He was just chillin at the BP. Never saw us i guess. Chris

Was it a 4 banger or V6? I assuming V6. Either way good kill. :D

unrealii Jul 20, 2003 03:37 PM

My guess is that it is the 6. With an auto keeping up, it has to be a v6. If I'm not mistaken the autos in the mazda6 are 5 speeds, right?

Darius Jul 20, 2003 05:08 PM

yes his is the V6. im pretty sure its 5-speed but i'm not sure.

If the previous generation Mazda 626 V6 is any indicator, the M6 with auto tranny is probably a major dog compared to the manual tranny model.

I raced the M6 in manual form, V6i, took em out by 2 cars; He runs 15.4's in the 1/4 mile, not sure what he has, but thats what he told me. Then he asked me, I said i run 16's lets race.... Then took em out. :)

Sick, 'cause that's the truth.
My dad's '97 626 got its trans rebuilt last March (~70k mi), and the mechanic said it looked as if it was rebuilt once already...
