Can't remove valve caps!
Hey, I attempted to post this in the general forum, but i'm ansy and haven't received any responses.
I was hoping someone could give me an answer to a problem i have. I bought some valve caps from autozone a few months ago. I had a flat tire and when it was getting fixed, the shop couldn't remove the cap so they had to cut the valve off. I assume it has to do with the difference in metals. I decided to check the other tires and i can not remove any of the caps. I've tried using two pairs of pliers (one to twist the cap while the other holding the rubber) to no avail. Does anyone know what options i have? Do they all need to be cut off? If so, what is involved and how is a new valve installed? Thanks in advance. KC |
Re: Can't remove valve caps!
Never heard of this one, before are the valve caps plastic or some aftermarket ones? Cause you could use a razor blade to cut the plastic cap off, the top of the valve stem is metal so it should be ok if cutting the plastic cap off. That way you wouldn't need to replace the valve stem. Oh you said this is the second time this has happened? Cause I thinks it might be time to leave the caps off!
Good luck Robert |

If that's the case, then they will have to take off the tire and remount and balance them. These $10 caps will end up costing me about $50. |
