What shocks do I get if...
 

I want a smoother ride? I currently have H&R springs with Tokico Blue shocks. Every little bump seems to thud the car pretty hard. I would like a much smoother ride but not floaty like the stock setup.

If someone has a link to where this has been discussed before that would work too.

I'm on the stock 17 inch wheels with H&R and KYBGR2. My ride is actually smoother than the stock SE set-up. It is definitely not floaty and does not thud on bumps.

I've never taken a ride in a Max with H&R and Tokicos, but i've heard some people say the the Tokicos are softer than the KYB.

maybe you should think about the springs....

i have tokicos and maxspeeds, and the ride is not bad at all.

(note: my sig pics are when I was still ridin' high on stock suspension)

H&R springs are the smoothest aftermarket spring you can get. If you don't like the ride then go back to the stock toks or stock springs. It also does not help that you have 18" wheels with lower profile tires.

Good point about the 18s. My tire size is 225/45/18. Do you think getting 17s would make a bigger difference than softer shocks? I remember one guy who had my setup and thought it was too jarring over little bumps so he changed shocks and the ride was perfect. I just can't remember what shocks he got.

You can stay with the 18" and just change the profile of your tires. It should be better.

Changing springs and/or shocks won't hurt either.

Yes, it's your 18's that are causing you to feel every small bump and imperfection in the road. Going from 18 to 17 will be a big imporvement in ride comfort. Also the tire you choose to run also has an impact on ride comfort.

Your H&R/Tokico setup is the softest/smoothest setup you can put on a Maxima.
