Whoooped my friend's SVT Focus

So, after the last "smoked by a focus" thread. My buddy ironically shows up this weekend with slighty used SVT Focus, 6 sp, 2k miles on the ODO. Within five minutes of riding in his car, I was calling him out to run'em! I have a 2k auto(y,intake), 55k mi, and 28lb. rims:

2 runs -

1st - from a 20 mph (to 90ish)roll. I dropped the hammer and just left him. Maybe he wasn't used to shifting. But man, did I pull on him. he was stunned, maybe thought it was a hoax? and immediately insisted to run "off the line".

2nd - From a stop bar. He burns out hard and pulls up. I line up nice and easy. Drop the auto to 1, no torque brake and were off. I start to pull on him, his nose is at my bumper by the end of first. I slammed it into 2nd at 6,300 and it was over! By the time i put it in drive, i was like "where did who go?!"

The funny part is he still wants to run on the freeway. Anyways, +1 on the board for the maxes--->Peace_

Interesting. I thought the SVT Focus would give a 3.0 Max a decent run (no way could it touch a 3.5 Max)... although you can easily change the boost in the Focus, then watch out!

There is no boost in an SVT Focus doofus :bonk: . They have a tuned Zetec making 170 HP and 140 TQ. There are turbo kits for the Zeyec, but since the SVT is running such a high compression ratio, you would need to swap the pistons out. In that instance, a stock ZX3 would actually be a better car since you could use the $6500 price difference to superceed the SVT's handling abilities and add the turbo kit for the same price as the SVT (plus insurance would be lower)...

Heh heh... well, ok... but I based my answer on someone I know who IS running a turbo in an SVT...

Just checking :D. I've built the **** out of two Foci (one SVT and one Premium ZX3). In the long run, the Premium ZX3 is better due to the overall lower cost and same (down to the tenth of a hp) exact engine output. The SVT Focus did end up with a better set of pistons, though...

Still no match for a 3.5 Max! :)

maan, if I were you I would've had some fun with this... I would purposely loose and pretend like his car is the **** and bow down. Some day when there are a lot of people around, ask him to race again and smoke him in front of every body...

According to "Cars and Driver"

SVT Focus:

0-60MPh = 7.8
1/4 Mile = 16.1 @ 87MPH

02 Honda Civic Si

0-60MPH = 8.0
1/4 Mile = 16.2 @ 86MPh

and we all know how low the new Si is:D

They are both about the same in terms of straight line performance.

Handling is another story.

:sprint: It was totally like that! I swear. He JUST bought it. He was doin all kinds of burn outs! The only burn out I did was in is face, while owning him. He knew it as did the witnesses. :bill:

my friend did the same thing to me when I first got my 2000 max. With his Z24 cavelier auto. He said he would smoke me. Boy was he embarrassed.

Yo, this is lovely. This is why I love my Max. People just dont see it coming. I love to see the look on there face when they get to the next stoplight and you are sitting there waiting for them with a big as smile on your face lol. The best was a buddy of mine, Puetro Rican so he talks alot of smack. Anyways he has a V6 Mustang 5 spd with some mods. I wasnt sure if I could take him cuz he was talking like his car would woop a V8 Mustang. I have a 2k 5sp w/ an intake and I havent even raced it much since I got the intake. Bottom line, I got the jump on him at the start and never looked back. First time I ever seen him that quiet and shocked lol. Here is a lil list of cars that I have wooped oh Highway 35 and 36 during some late night cruising and most of these were when I was all stock.

Celica GTS manual. Toast
Mustang GT Auto. C-ya
3.2 TL Type S Auto. Close but no Cigar
IS 300 Baby bye, bye, bye
Camry V6 XLE What were you thinking
Loud as Civic after loud as Civic- All show and No Go!
RSX- and you said that is a sports car?
The list goes on!
Ok the downide
95 M3 Sedan- I had him for a good bit probably because he had an auto and couldnt navigate through the traffic like I could. Once the lanes opened up and we were running at 125 he was ahead of me and I eased up!
MB CLK55 AMG- I know these boyz run but I said hell with it, maybe he cant drive even it takes no skill to make those jointz go. I had him from like 0-20 but before I knew it, the race was over lol! Awesome exhaust note from his rear as I tried to keep up wit em.

Damn Im Hype now. Its Midnight and Im going to go Hop in the Max and see what I can get into. Holla!
