Wouldn't a 2000 be a WS6? Uhm, and yeah.. he would pull on you so hard it'd be embarrasing. If im not mistaken they run low 13s stock. You'll need a lot of nitrous if you wanna win.

interesting... we took a drive in it and it sucked ***... we took the same roads that we take with our maximas all the time and with less people. It felt too slow... compared to the maxes... I mean he even had it floored and sometimes manually shifted.

oh well maybe we expected too much from it...

all I know its loud, abnoxious, intimidating, rusting, peice of s-h-i-t... if you can propel and pice of s-h-i-t with rockets even it would be faster than any car lol..

who cares...

just race his malibu rj, its in the same class...

kloogy,

I must've offended you by the s-h-i-t remark... oh well no offense was intended...

I spent 19500 on my max and there was a reason for it... I couldve spend 18K like he did and bought a T/A...

to each its own i guess..

oh and I would be laughing at you in your T/A in my heavy *** S600 MUHUHAHAHA...

S600 ? They have a lot of torque.. But we all know how much they weigh. I used to run low 12's N/A .. My friend has a Brabus that barely breaks 12's . I must give you the BLING factor. I love S600's on 21's !

You know ive only seen like 1-2 of those in person (on 21's ive seen alot of 600s, driven em, ect.. ) Those things have ALOT of torque off the line but I didnt get a chance to run it through the end of 3rd. Damn car has too many gadgets that might bust, it makes me nervous. You sit down and like 20 things (im exaggerating to those who never sat it one) move and that stupid seat belt thing shoots out like 2ft out of nowere That car tripped me out the 1st time I rolled in one but it still makes me nervous

Back on topic of the Trans am and 02 max...

I didnt even want to mess with the navi ive seen too many $10-15K warranty jobs on those and even breathing near it made me nervous , I was just on a joyride Vented seats it has vented seats too! Like I said its got too many gadgets...

Giovanni I swear these new benzos make me nervous just sitting in them, I feel like one wrong move is gonna cost me $10K (it probably will) If it was mine I honestly wouldnt sweat it.

Uhh, yeah the Trans Am would spank you in a minute. By the way, in 2000 werent Trans Am's equipped with the LS1 rather than a LT1?
And oh my, dont even get strated on a WS6...now thats a mean ride as far a speed goes.

That's a big difference The stock LT1 mkes about 270rwhp where as the LS1 makes about 300-310rwhp (auto or 6 speed) plus the LS1 is about 60lbs lighter thanks to it's alumninum block. A 6 speed/auto LS1 is capable of low 13s@105+mph and some have graced the 12s in stock form. There is NO WAY a 6 speed/auto 2k2 Maxima could have any sort of chance against the LS1 assuming they both get decent traction. You're comparing a car that does 14.5-14.8@93-95 to one that does 13.1-13.5@102-105mph. Big difference. Hell, even my auto 94 Z28 LT1 went 13.9@99mph with just a catback.

As for the WS6, it's actually slower that the regular model TA/Firebird. Heavier 17s, stiff suspension, and lots of options weighed this car down (~3500lbs). The "ram air" and exhaust setup on these cars only makes ~5-7rwhp over the regular LS1 which already has a stock ram air setup. An extra 5-7hp isn't enough to overcome the extra weight and stiff suspension which makes launching a pain.

It's an LS1.

If it's an auto it puts down between 290-300 rwhp.

It will be slower if it has 2.73 gears, not the optional 3.23s.

I had an auto '02 LS1 beat me in my '02 6 speed LS1 in the 1/4 mile.

No stock Max will have any chance.

Kloogy, I know this is OT but I have to ask... how is the ride quality with your wheels? and how long did you have to wait for your Franken Intake?

These races are retarded, why would someone in a stock maxima even humor the thought of owning an 300 hp vehicle... Silly stuff.

well to be honest... both me and RJMAX knew the T/A would be a faster car than the MAX. We were just both SHOCKED when we took a spin in it. I honestly think that there is something terribly wrong with this T/A. First of all, we tried to get it to burn rubber (TCS off mind you) it would NOT peel at all... then it was floored from stop to around 80MPH (didnt want to go further) the whole time ther was no rush and none of us felt as if we were pinned back into the seat. Well without offending kloogy, we felt that the car had hard time getting up to the 60s compared to our maxes!!

Now you know how SHOCKED we both were... to top this off! the T/A has custom exhaust (no mufflers) and a aftermarket CAI with K&N... I think the previous owner has beat the crap out of the car... or alteast the auto tranny...

If we didnt feel like that about the T/A we woudlnt have posted something like this here.. believe me. I would much rather keep my respect ( if I have any )

And at $5-6 a quart for synth--->that comes to a grand total of $140 for just an oil change. Makes you just wanna run out and buy one don't it! I laugh everytime my friend has to change to oil in his boxster. However, i do think they are more in the 12-16 quart range. I'm not sure.

You think thats bad? Do you have any clue as to how much it costs to do an oil change on a Ferrari Enzo? at $60 a quart and if you dont use that oil Ferrari wont warranty the $200,000+ motor... Its well over $800 to change the oil on that car The RUF actually used mobil 15-50oil so yeah 150ish just for the oil. The dual filters ect.. it went easily over $200.

I thought you were racing, not comparing quality of the respective cars.
I guess if you're too scared to lose, you'll find the easy way to win. Besides, the Malibu isn't in the same class.

That's the great thing about auto F-Bodys, they really don't peel out if the tires are good and you don't torque brake it hard especially the LS1s. The reason the LS1 doesn't feel incredibly fast is because it's torque curve is completely flat from 1500-5000rpms. When you don't have surges, spikes, valleys, etc in the torque curve, the car doesn't feel extremely fast, even a big V8. When I had my modified LT1 Z28 (13.4s) and I took a spin in a friends LS1, we both swore the LS1 was a dog and that my LT1 would rip it a new one. At the track, the truth was revealed. 13.5@106mph stock to my 13.5@103 modified. Both autos. The LS1 has significantly more pull after 80mph than the LT1 does.

Very interesting Dave. Thanks for the post. Who better to hear it from than people like you and kloogy who have had experience with these cars.

I think we were expecting wrong things from a wrong car. The T/A is obviously a much much different car than a MAX.

I must say (and its probably obvious to you guys) that at only 25K miles, this T/A is really in a bad shape (for lack of a better term) There are these weird vibrations, noises (external chassis/suspension/engine/tranny etc etc as well as internal rattles and stuff.) when I got back into my max it was like heaven LOL. NO Offense intended to the muscle car lovers out there... to them its a shame this car (and the camaro) is not being produced anymore...

Have you SEEN this guy's engine?
The reason I ask is that a 2000 Firebird looks pretty much exactly like a base T/A, and scoots decent enough with the 200hp 3800. What you are describing sounds like a V6 Firebird. Ask to see under his hood.

I had an LT1 Z/28 (all hateful looking in black with tinted windows and Firehawk 5-spokes ), and that car was nothing but fast. Don't get me wrong, my '02 SE really moves, and I have no complaints with it, but I know from owning one (literally) NOT to race any late-model V8 F-bodies (lest I be "owned" )
