MAF & Intakes Issues on '03's ??
Over the past couple of months I've read about repeated MAF failure's on 00, 01 & 02's with the addition of Stillen, Frankencar or other free flowing intakes.
However, I don't recall seeing any 03's with this same affliction. Are the 03's immune or is it due to a different/updated MAF? TIA. |
My '03 has had a FrankenCar in it for about 5 months now without any problems.
But who knows, it could be just around the corner.... I'll be sure to post if it does. |

i have an '02 w/ no maf failure yet and had the
franken w/ k&n for +10k without cleaning it |
So far so good!
 |
the early 2k2 had very sensitive maf and therefore the failure rate was much higher. from my understand, they issued a tsb which part of involved replacing the maf with a newer one. i think some later built 2k2 had the new maf along with all 2k3. that doesnt mean that none of the 2k3 failed or that some of the updated mafs for 2k2 didnt go out but i believe it helped a great deal.

IIRC, i have a July 2001 build 2k2. Replaced my air filter with a dry-type... 31k and my MAF is holding up pretty well.

It's because you have that factory freak Max. I don't know anyone else that gets 30mpg. So why wouldn't your MAF hold up as well? ;)
2k3....Frankencar Intake......15k......No MAF Failure! |

As for the MAF, the OEM filter is oiled and took it out at 15k. I guess, if anthing, i really do have a freaky Max :D *knock on wood to not jinx it* |
I've got a 2K2, built in 3/02. It has the 22680-AM600 MAF. I believe this is the same MAF as the 2K3's. I've had an Injen intake on for 2500 miles and no problems.

This has been posted time and time again. Search the 5th gen forum by my name and the key word MAF. You'll find everything you need to know and then some. :)

Studman your 3rd MAF was back to a 22680-6N201, did Nissan ever replace it with another 22680-AM600 yet or are they just going to wait for it to go bad too? I also have my O2 sensors logged as well, so I should be ok for a while. |
