alot of you'll be interested in this!!!

I have an idea thats gonna appeal to alot of you- Most of us have the ****TY LOWER VALENCE GRILLS from Grille-tech- obviously those cheap mofo's wont give us a quality polished product-

My ideas are these(I'm no Einstein obviously):

* I'm tryin to find an aftermarket chrome/polished grill big enough (from any car) to be able to cut- by removing the grilletechs(removing the rubber strip and tracing a cut)
this may be expensive obviously

*Or try to find a sheet of polished metal to cut from that looks good
w/ the trenz grill and/or the stock grill

* Or to use the chrome engine dress up kit on the grilletech's

* Or better yet - get one of these aftermarket companies deliver it to
us at a reasonable price

* Buy another ****ty set from Grille tech(doubt it) and find who the fock can chrome dip'm

My grille techs where rusty within 10 days of having them- I've spray
painted them twice in three months (they dont look right/dont really
match the car well- I got the race style)

Soon i'll have a bodykit and it wont be as easy to get under the car to remove them all the time and I want something bling

I know some dont like the trenz- (but imagine a Superblack Max w/trenz
grille , bodykit, and the lower valence grill matching w/ the same pattern
as the main grill- that would look phat)

I just dont understand that w/ such a mainstream car as ours- we dont
have more options- Any suggestions fellas?
Someone tackle this project please- It may take me a while!

I know what you mean...

I'm not happy w/ the poor quality of the grille-tech grills either. But I'm even more unhappy w/ the way my Max looks w/out em'.

Coincidently, I plan on buying a new set :banghead: and having them treated w/ a good rust-proof coating and then painted. I plan on making another change to em' that I believe is really gonna make it look nice and standout more. We'll see...

Have you guys ever looked at http://www.jmsproductsinc.com ?

I already have the top grill from them and the lower is on the way. They come with a warranty and are guaranteed not to rust.

Those are pretty damn nice! I wonder about that "slam air" intake that they say will give us 213whp and 20% better fuel mileage... Anybody using that?

Ya I posted something about the Slam Air when I first saw it. I'm pretty sure org member studman was the test car for the Slam Air but I'm not sure if anyone has it installed for good. Who knows how our MAFs would handle it though.

Just to clarify on the grills...they make them in the black finish and the aluminum finish. For some reason they only show the black on the Maxima and the aluminum on the Altima but you can get either one.

The grills at JMS look like they were hammered into shape. No thanks.

I sprayed mine with 2 coats of clear Rustoleum before putting them, they've been on for about 3 months and while most of it has stayed rust-free, there are a couple of spots - but I may have just missed some spots while spraying.

I'm thinking of taking them off soon (before winter) and cleaning them up and re-coating them.

Anyone know if Rustoleum comes in a liquid? I might get better coverage that way than with the spray.

I agree though - they shouldn't be rusting so darn quick!

i definetly want something more soild for the valence and main grill - if i were to put the mesh grill it would
seem to easy for a pertruder to get to the hood

That lower grill has been hammered to sh*t. Rust or no rust.

MannyNJ2k2max Sep 17, 2003 04:11 PM

I am going to work on a grill similar to the Trenz grill except stainless steel. Also the mesh grills for the lower valence but they will be either stainless or aluminum. Any suggestions or pictures are welcome.

Thanks MannyNJ2k2max you took the words out of my mouth

WildmanAL Sep 17, 2003 07:15 PM

I'm actually very happy with my grille-tech. It's black on a grey lustre max so that have something to do with it.

If you make a stainless version, i will definetly buy it.

If you look at the rest of the webpage; domestics and all, you can see that it looks like all the other pics show a pretty high quality product. Could just be a fluke with the pic of the Altima. And none of us drive Altimas on here anyways, so whats the big deal? My $.02

Their grilles are great. Mine lasted about 11months with no rust or wear whatsoever...until I ran it into another car...I've promptly ordered another one!

The JMS lower valence grill on the max looks great.I have been looking for an alternative to the grille-techs since so many people complain about them rusting so quickly.
