What will match HID's

What lights will be the closest match to my stock HID's. I want to change the bright's and fogs and maybe that little light in the headlamp too. Will I need to change my wiring harness for any of these? I am kinda of new to the light department. i did a search and really never came up with a clear and decisive answer. Will the fog light and high beam wiring harness stand the new lights that you all recommend?

for the fogs get PIAA Super Plasma
Dont listen to what everyone else will tell you... I posted this long ago and Plasmas match better then Xteme White...

Even then the Plasmas are too blue compared to the HIDs. Just buy the ion crystals to have that lexus fog look or if you really want to match both HIDs and fogs, buy aftermarket bulbs like Igor911.

:sprint: same advice.....

Audtatious Oct 2, 2003 07:16 AM

The Super Plasma's don't match the HID's very well (still better than the factory bulbs). I'm using them right now for my parking lights and they are more of a white-blue than the HID's. The Xtreme Whites seem to match better....

Igor bought KOPS 6000k HID bulbs and matching 6000K HID conversion for his fogs....no aftermarket bulbs there

those xenon 194s match best for the clearance lights... I tried 5 different bulbs before I found those.

Igor911 Oct 2, 2003 09:13 AM

On stock 2k2 HID, the best fog match is the PIAA Super Plasma H3 bulbs that I sold to Jeepik. They match perfectly.

As for my setup, I have 6000k HID all around :)

The issue with the 194's is that they are only 5w. The brighter 168's @ 18w are the preferred bulb in my book.

I saw that. That was just a response to utilizing the 194 bulbs....

aight u got me on a technicality....I meant to say he doesn't have fake "xenon" type bulbs in there, but real HID....

I tend to think of HID "capsules" and "bulbs" as two different entities, which IMO they are...

in hindsight, should have said capsules in the first place, either way point was given

bigdo26 Oct 2, 2003 01:38 PM

i have the Xenon bulbs out of the JC Whitney catalog for my highs and fogs. Look like a perfect match in the highs, fogs are a little off... not sure why. Anyways, check my homepage for pics of both. Might hafta get the 168 bulbs in place of my 194s... I was wondering just yesterday if they'd fit!

Fezzik Oct 5, 2003 07:42 PM

So i should get 194 lights for my sidemarkers, and running lights, and piaa plasma for my fogs...... Where can I get these for a good price. Tell me if this is wrong. I have no idea so what u tell me is what I'll probably do.

they have the best price I've found (once you factor in SHIPPING) on 194/168 bulbs. I haven't checked their fogs so look at SW and terrshop and compare, and don't forget SHIPPING is part of the cost!

Fezzik Oct 6, 2003 10:22 PM

LOL ok one more question... What wattage bulbs should I get. I see on some PIAA bulbs 35w=70w 55w=110w and 85w=135W... This is for the fogs.... I dont know which one is right for my car.... Also I figure we use the 9005 bulbs in our high beams.... the bulb says 60w=120w... I am guess these wattages wont hurt the wiring harness?

lol plz don't call me "baby" haha u scare me :slap: :grinno:

Y2KSESteve Oct 7, 2003 10:38 AM

Just about all PIAA bulbs are 55w.

Nathan Oct 7, 2003 01:29 PM

Yup, just stick with the 55watt PIAA Super Plasma's and you'll be happy with them.

I have the PIAA extreme white fogs which match pretty good but they're kinda on the yellowish side compared to the HID's.

DrVolkl Oct 7, 2003 03:56 PM

What about the PIAA 7500 spark blue?? Too blue? They seem cool.

I can't remember what I had on my car, I think the extreme white...they were a pretty good match, but I lost em when I smashed my car...so I'm looking for new bulbs as well.
Oh, and they were 55W and they lasted almost a year (until I smashed em, so low score on the 30mph impact test)
