Good Luck and I hope nothing is damaged :)

My tranny is fine, that I'm sure of... It still shifts smooth as silk, and it doesn't make any noise... The only new noise is the valves are tapping louder. :( And the turbo/wastegate/bov noise (if you can call it noise, I call it my car's symphony orchastra) only overpower the engine at wot.

lol yeah, it's a crazy sound, that you don't hear coming from a VQ too often... I think I'm the first person to capture this on video... Too bad I wasn't closer to the camera...

so how do you know exactly you hit 9,000rpm? do you have another tach in your car?

Its a rough guess I would imagine...redline in 3rd is 6500-6600, 3rd gear picks up at what rpm around 4200? That would put him around 8900 rpms from 3rd gear readline back to 2nd gear.

I saw my tach being significantly past 8000 rpms, and I have an SAFC2. :P

ouch!!!

I feel for you man. I did this on my previous car. $1100 in head work. After that it was much better though. It was an excuse to put in lighter valves, stronger springs, and mill the head.

If it comes to it then I suggest ivesting the cash. With the turbo it can only help.

By the way, did you throw away the skid marked drawers or try to wash them after you heard the motor bounce? :grinno:

On mine I floated 7 valves on two cyl. It was ugly. Nothing like driving home from the track listening to the car sputter at 20 MPH.....

Either way you know the outcome, if you hear knockin it will only get worse until you get it fixed.

It already is getting louder... So I'm taking it easy on the car now, basically not going over 3000 rpms. :(

Uh oh. Crap. If you start losing quite a bit of power and start using oil like a mofo, one of your main/rod bearings is spun.

h2kFrosty -

Time to rebuild or pick up a VQ30 from a junkyard and toss in on_alerts custom forged rods and 9:1 pistons.

Should be a good match.:naughty:

Hubcaps indeed... My car has absolutely no options, EXCEPT for mud flaps... No power seats, no nice wheels, no automatic transmission... no cd player... lol
