d'oh... SS brake hose install woes
 

(had trouble posting this earlier, oh well)

Set out to install the SS brake hoses on my 2K, successfully installed the right rear lines & flushed/bled the fluid from that line, ended up rounding off the left rear flare nut pretty well. Yay for cheap-azz Autozone junk 10mm flare nut wrench. Ran out and bought a Craftsman 10mm flare nut wrench... but it was too late for that one. The craftsman wrench just gave it a nice polished rounded look. Looks like my left rear brake hose is staying stock (it's still on tight, and I bled it after reconnecting the hose to the caliper).
Already after bleeding both rears and installing the SS brake hose on the right rear, the brakes feel a little more effective... can't wait to complete the fronts tomorrow.

Now the issue of the left rear... how much $$ might I consider to get the brake line replaced? :gotme: or
or are there any other tricks of the trade when dealing with stuck flare nuts? (along with nicely rounded edges...)
Oh yeah, plenty of GUNK Liquid Wrench was used for both sides... guess it didn't penetrate well enough on the left side :grinno:

Dont bother, It happens because the flare nut is put on so tight you end up doing that, the only way you MIGHT have gotten away with it is with a 5point wrench where you can get it into the line and then on the nut.

I stripped the front two replacing the lines with my big brake kit. Just too much torque when they were installed from the factory. I honestly dont think its worth the trouble.

If the flare end connected to the brake caliper is worn...Good luck. You could remove the hose end with a vice grip, then get a new fitting. Don't forget to hold on to the fitting end when tightening the hose. Aeroequip makes a fitting wrench that is thin or you could make your own. grind the wrench to the thinkness required and quench it in cold water to hold the temper of the metal (hardness).
