Help, CD player says CD Err, Can't listen to my jams!

I have 2000 Max SE, Today the CD I was playing sounded scratchy and then quit playing. It will not play any CD's, when i put in any CD it reads CD Err. Anyone have similar problems? I tried a CD cleaner disc but the CD player will not read it. Help. :sadwavey:

Are you trying to use a CD-R? Nice user name BTW ;)

That happenned to me earlier in the Summer. I bought a new head unit.

BTW, do you have Bose or not?

I do have the Bose and the CD was not a CD R. How much was the repair cost for the new head.

that happened to me a couple of times.. but then i just got ride of the bose headunit and bought a TV.. the error message usually came up when i tried to put in CD-R.. never really had a problem with real CDs.. but my friend have his head unit changed on his bose headunit on his pathfinder and they replaced it for free if you are still under warranty..

I have a little over 50k miles on the car so no warranty. Will they have to take much of the dash apart to take out the CD player? If there is not much to come apart, I might just have a local guy replace the head instead of going to Nissan.

You would do it yourself without too much trouble. Basically:

1. Remove air vent assembly
2. Remove shift console
3. unscrew bracket4
4. disconnect wires
5. unscrew head unit
5. screw in new head unit
6. put everything back together

There should be articles/ how-to guides on how to do each of these steps.

Thanx, I'll give it a try.
