exhaust cat question

I am planning on a budget y-pipe for my 2k max and was looking around and was reading about the racing straight pipe... I will be keeping my stock resonator, headers, and muffler (new tips of course). I was thinking just the y-pipe but would the racing pipe in addition to the y make a positive difference? also is the racing pipe a cat, or does it remove a cat? I haven't really looked below my car but i was thinking the y-pipe had 2 cats and there was one more at the post-y pipe area. What I am thinking in the budget y removes the 2 y-pipe cats and the racign pipe removes the third and that is not good. Can someone explain this? thanx. My total performance will be coming from these exhaust mods, a frankencar intake, and possibly the VB mod (if it makes a difference). Thanx

if you are fed spec (3 o2 sensors) then you have 3 total cats. both pre cats are in the y pipe and then the main cat. if you are cali spec (4 o2 sensors) then you have 3 cats total. one on back side of the manifold, one in the y pipe and the main cat. the racing pipe will remove the main cat which is not a problem for cali spec since there no o2 sesnor after the cat but fed does have one after the main cat.
