Just can't decide where to start >:o/

I have a bone stock 2k2 6speed and have not a clue where to start my modding. I'd preferably like to start w/ the cheapest mods, as I can accomplish while the bank grows for more expensive mods. I know I want to clear the orange relector (dont know how to remove headlight assembley), clears ($50?), fstb ($40), new tires (~$500ish), tint ($150-200), grill mesh ($9.00 home depot style-with rustproof- unsure how to do w/ 2k2), and probably hyperwhites in headlights and around interior. So any help deciding which to do first, as well as how to do some would help. Thanks in advance.

Of course the more expensive mods will take longer to save for, but wondering which would be better to do before the other. Sorry for the long post.

Since your car is plenty quick stock, go for suspension and braking mods first!

If i were to do my car over, but with your 2k2 i'd get... FSTB, RSB, Sub Frame Connectors, New Better Tires, Clear The Amber In Your Headlights, Clears (amber/red bulbs, no hyper whites anywhere, You have HID's already so you dont want hyperwhite headlights unless you mean your highbeams.. which is ok..) But I'd Change The HID Bulb To A Different Kelvin, HID Fogs, Tint... And Be Happy!!!

^^ Thanks for the input. By hyperwhites, I was just referring to the corner light, and the other little accessories dome/map/door, etc. Hm.....I really want tint

rstb is the first MUST have mod.

No prob, Tint was my first mod :) i should have gotten 15% on the sides and 5% in the rear, o well :p

SeaFoam2DMax Nov 17, 2003 10:11 PM

Tint Tint Tint, get the tint first. IMO it makes the best improvement for looks. Go dark. I was afraid when i got the 5% but i'm so glad i did. cops here in daytona havn't bothered me yet about it. Then go for handling.

HitManSE Nov 17, 2003 11:54 PM

Get your entire suspension/brakes done up 1st, power mods can wait.

haha, Irvine in so. cal is notorious for their police. But i'm still driving around with 13% all around, just make sure to roll down the fronts when there's onetime (or if you have something to hide in the trunk!)

skandalouz Nov 18, 2003 07:40 AM

TINT!TINT!TINT!... and maybe some clear sidemarkers

lcf Nov 18, 2003 07:49 AM

I don't really consider tinting... a mod... it's a given. Heh.

Definitely drop it first (suspension) and get clears. Orange sidemarkers are so fugly.

Mick Max Nov 18, 2003 08:00 AM

You mentioned inexpensive. The fog light rewire and clear flashing corners is about as cheap as you are going to get and the how to's are great. Then rear sway bar.

In the next few months more information will be clear on the headers and ECU, so it is not bad to be waiting now.

WildmanAL Nov 18, 2003 08:41 AM

If you don't race and do some serious driving forget the brakes, that can wait. As for the RSTB (rear strut bar), those don't do anything. Maybe he meant the RSB (rear sway bar). I would do tint, clear side markers, then suspension. After that it's whatever is more important. Audio, looks, or performance.

03BlkSETE Nov 18, 2003 10:37 AM

I guess I'll throw in my two cents. Lowering the car makes the greatest visual effect and gives you some better handling. After that I would go for performance (horsepower) mods. Handling mods could wait. I almost never push my car to it's handling limits but enjoy the performance increase I've gained just about everytime I drive.

The bottom line is, what are your preferences?

FrankTheBunny Nov 18, 2003 11:09 AM

My favorite mod so far has been my FrankenCar. I still love hearing the snarl when I open the throttle up.

Either way, once you start modding you won't be able to stop! :)

Gooey Nov 18, 2003 11:31 AM

i would definately drop the car first...i dropped my car the 2nd day i got it...stock ride looks so...cant say it youll be happy with a drop and tint..thats all i got now and im happy...more then that = speedin tickets
