Notchy shifting when warm?

I've noticed after a long drive (i.e. work to home, ~45 miles), my 5spd tranny gets notchier than normal... 3rd gear in particular seemed a little "crunchy", going back and forth between 3rd and 4th took a little more effort than going between 1st and 2nd while sitting @ idle (it also felt notchier shifting in motion).

After letting the car sit for 15 minutes or so and taking it back out, it felt smoother again.

I assume this is heat-related, i.e. after a long drive the tranny's really warm so the shifting gets notchy... does this mean I need a thicker fluid?
Right now I'm using Redline MT-90 75W-90 synthetic gear oil, with probably 15-20K miles on it...

any thoughts?

Argh. This is getting more annoying now. The tranny was always somewhat notchy even since I got it, but now it's to the point that it's really starting to twitch my nerves. It feels great when the tranny/engine are cold, but after at least 10 miles, everything feels notchier... It hasn't really got any better or worse since the first time I posted this thread, but it's just getting on my nerves a little more :)

2nd gear usually shifts in 2 small "stages", i.e. I pull the shifter back into 2nd gear, it goes halfway in, sorta stops, then goes in after a short pause. It goes in a little faster if I ram it in with more force (I'm usually gentle with it).

The tranny is full of Redline MT-90, and has been for 15K mi or so. I checked the fluid level this weekend... it's full, and a little fluid dripped out of the filler plug, and it still looks & smells like new fluid.

Does this sound like my synchros are getting worn down? I got just a little under 50K mi on this sucker... had it since June when it had 26K mi on it. I have no idea what kind of gear oil the previous owners put in (for all I know they could have had GL-5 in there... that would suck)

that weird my 6 speed gets worst during cold temperature.. i also put mt-90 but its still notchy. i think nissan makes sh!ty *** transmission. you should take it to the dealers. have them drive it and see what they say. good luck!
