2K2 Auto Dynoed- 231.1HP and 232TQ!!!

Today I got a chance to pull 2 dyno pulls.

MODS: TechnoSquare ECU, Stillen Headers, Straight Pipe, 2.5 Custom Catback and WAI.

Run 1 - 231HP/231.1TQ
Run 2 - 231.1HP/232TQ

I am pretty pleased with these numbers and cant wait till the track opens in the spring. on a side not the guy who dynoed my car was very knowledgeable (he is a driver in the NASCAR truck series). We talked for about 3hrs. He said that the I will definitely gain more torque and a few ponies if I put my main cat back on. We also discussed the Stillen Headers and how many lost power. He beleives it is definitely becuase of a combination of the ecu and the loss of backpressure. He said to a possible solution to the problem is putting back on the main cat or a less free flowing muffler. I will be able to post the printouts later.

This is a good display of what the Stillen Headers and TS ECU can do when combined. Manual guys with the same mods will be very close to 240HP.

MannyNJ2k2max 01-15-2004 12:59 PM

nice! cant wait to redyno....

looslip 01-15-2004 01:04 PM

woooo hooooo. Time for me to get an ECU!

wavedog 01-15-2004 01:09 PM

Ok stupid newbie question. How does Nissan come up with the 255hp stock?

03BlkSETE 01-15-2004 01:10 PM

Very nice. Are you still running the original plugs?

Cubanato 01-15-2004 01:17 PM

where can u ge the TC ECU and how much ??

03BlkSETE 01-15-2004 01:18 PM

www.technosquareinc.com

2001SE 01-15-2004 01:19 PM

manual guys will get more than 240whp, probably close to 250.

Also, how come the torque and hp are so close to eachother, 02/03 maximas have more torque stock than hp, so can someone explain this?

IceY2K1 01-15-2004 01:30 PM

Can you post the dyno?

I'm ASSuming this is a different place then last time?

Thanks.

Its a lot easier to get HP from bolt on mods than torque. Most cases intakes yield 5-6whp and 2-3tq, exhausts 4-6whp and 1-2tq, etc etc. I'd be willing to bet the 6 speeds will be around the low-mid 240 range with the exact mods as Eric.

Ohh and that thing has a 13 in it now :D

IceY2K1 01-15-2004 01:33 PM

Time for some cams.:naughty:

krmaxima 01-15-2004 01:33 PM

ts ecu rocks its the best mod for the buck. everyone should get it

krmaxima 01-15-2004 01:34 PM

by the way very good numbers congrats

03BlkSETE - Stock Plugs...never changed them they are clean

IceY2K1 - thsi is the same place I went to when I dynoed 218HP and 230TQ with my A/F ratio at 9.8:1. By the way my A/F ration is in the high 11's:1 rangeabove 4000rpm. This is still a little rich.

IceY2K1 01-15-2004 01:36 PM

So the ONLY change was the TS ECU, right?

Can you post the dyno or email it to me?

This thread is going to cost me alot of money. I was pretty happy with my car with the addition of the Y pipe and considering not doing any major mods this year. Now I definitely decided to go with headers and ECU very soon. Problem is i'm not getting any traction now, so I'll have to upgrade my tires soon also. Damn this is going to be expensive.

Blu 01-15-2004 01:42 PM

I was talking to him on IM and he said it held 221whp at 6500 rpms. Wow Im really curious to see the chart also but he doesn't have the runview files or a scanner :(

IceY2K1 01-15-2004 01:51 PM

He has a digital camera, so he can take a picture of the WHOLE dyno page NOT just the peak readings.

Please juice.

yes I'd like to see also. I know that he has approx 10 more whp than I did at redline...

IceY2K1 01-15-2004 01:54 PM

You have a ypipe vs. headers PLUS what is your A/F reading at 6500?

that's just the engine, out of the car

he's talking about what the car actually puts on the ground. The drivetrain (in every car) saps hp from the engine. That 231hp is very good for a modded auto.

My A/F reading at 6500 is around 11:5 so its around the same as Erics. I think this shows that the ECU does in fact help out top end and possibly the stillen headers also. I can't wait for hotshots headers (near equal length runners and an equal length y pipe) :naughty:

IceY2K1 01-15-2004 02:18 PM

I'd get the TS ECU instead, since you already have the ypipe.

I think I'll get both when the time comes. The altima guys showed a gain of around 8whp over the stillen y pipe which gets rid of one precat unlike the current y pipe on my car. :D

:sprint: now i want headers and TS ECU

IceY2K1 01-15-2004 02:21 PM

Why wait on the ECU?

well the cars in the shop and I have to decide if I want to keep the nitrous. If I do I will have to play the timing a little more conservative. Ohh and also the money isn't available quite yet :)

F23A4 01-15-2004 02:34 PM

Yeah, like that  But not until my 5/60 PT expires. :banghead:

Dave B 01-15-2004 02:35 PM

I'd have to see the whole graph and also I'd have to see a comparison run on the same dyno pre-headers and ECU. All dynos read differently and that's why you need to stick to the same machine during testing. The final "numbers" are pretty meaningless and only really serve as a "**** swinging graph", it's the gains/losses and where they are that actually means something. Nealoc187's dyno numbers are very low for his mods compared to other 4th gens, but he pulls off 13.6s@101mph on slicks.

Also, I don't know how much I'd trust a dyno operator that tells you you'll gain power back by adding backpressure. I'm not going to into the real specifics, but backpressure is never a good thing. You want good exhaust velocity because that what keeps the exhaust gases hot so they'll exit the pipe quickly. It has nothing to do with "back pressure". Just because he was a NASCAR driver doesn't mean he knows much about auto mechanics. Sounds to me like he only knows how to race cars.

Dave

IceY2K1 01-15-2004 02:37 PM

Oh..oooh. What happened? :redbounce

I know where you can get a KILLER deal on a J&Sw/gauge.

Too bad TS can't program you an ECU that pulls timing when the N20 is activated. Maybe soon.

Yes, money.

I'll never make 60K, but ~1yr. until I start collecting toys for the install.

When the time comes I might get with you on the J&S..Hell I didn't even think of that. Guess I'll go all out on the ECU now. Also wait to see how Alex's dyno looks with the cams :)

Ohh yea and I got backed into sitting in driveway

IceY2K1 01-15-2004 02:47 PM

Dave,

Why...oh why?:grinno:

Save your preaching until we at least see the graph.:slap:

Yeah I know, jumping the gun as usual. I just think it's crazy for people to start saying their going to buy all this stuff because he stated he's made some serious gains and hasn't posted a dyno plot.

Dave

IceY2K1 01-15-2004 02:53 PM

Whew! Thought you'd ZEX'd your engine to death.

Anyways, the J&S isn't mine, it's for sale on another board I saw and will be gone quick. Wish I had the money to buy.:slant:

Alex who?

 Dave

Great minds must think alike, because you and I were thinking EXACTLY the same thing.

I think 5th geners have been a little disappointed lately with new mods, so they're chomping at the bit to find ANYTHING that works.

hmm the ecu sounds like a pretty interesting mod.. im assuming it'll fit my auto i35. one question i have about this is how badly does this affect your mpg?
