What's the secret to getting MAF off?

I tried for about 45 mins today in this horrible weather trying to separate the MAF assembly from the rest of the stock stuff. I pulled, pryed, had another person pull one way while I pulled the other way, and no luck. Is there a trick to getting the MAF part separate? I've never heard anyone here posting about a problem like this, so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. It won't budge..any tips? Post up..TIA

You take the 4 bolts holding it on off?

I think he is referring to removing the sensor from the tube assembly.

OTHERWISE...to remove the tube from the intake...there are 4 brass/gold bolts holding it on...but I highly doubt he is asking that.... :wall:

if you are trying to remove the sensor from the tube you need to get the right bits. go to autozone and they have the cheater bits.

remember, rubber pieces contract when it's cold, so they are tighter and will be pretty much impossible to get off. warm it up, g.

the 4 bolts are pretty hard to take off while the whole assembly is still in the engine bay...just loosen the metal grip that's after the MAF sensor and closest to the throttle body..then after taking all the screws off of the air box...give it a firm tug and the whole thing will come off...then you can unscrew the MAF section from there.

Yeh, I was actually asking about the other end of the MAF (not the part that has the 4 bolts) w/the rubber all around it. Tried prying w/a screwdriver and it just chipped pieces of plastic :| I was pis$ed, b/c I def. don't wanna pay for a new MAF just b/c they saw the MAF was tampered with (if/when it dies).

Gf mentioned the cold thing w/the rubber, but I blew it off haha..oh well, I guess I'll try a hairdryer or something soon. Sucked, I had to put back all the stock stuff. Hopefully this'll work..thanks for the replies!
