Teins W/ 19's....?

Im picking up a set of Teins. Im just curious to what it will look like with 19 inch wheels.....? Did you shave your bumpstops ?... :) ...Thx for info !

Larrio Feb 14, 2004 12:17 AM

you'll be fine with 35 series tires kloogy. Just don't head down to l.a. or riverside :D

maximilion Feb 14, 2004 02:36 AM

Kloggy, let us know how it turns out. I got 19s too and am considering getting teins instead of the maxspeeds i got now.

CCx Feb 14, 2004 04:00 AM

Which teins are you going with, the s or h tech? Just curious as i've got a pair of h techs in my basement waiting til it gets warmer to throw on with my 19's (also in the basement :D), let us know how it is! I'd love to put a 40 series tire on with mine but concerned about rubbing even with the mild 1.6" drop of the htech.

Blu Feb 14, 2004 04:21 AM

I would trim the front bumpstops b/c I bottom out all the time from not trimming mine. The rear is fine, I don't think the drop is drastic enough to trim the rear bumpstops.

KiLLeR2002se Feb 14, 2004 05:44 AM

so g, how you getting these things on? haha
"naw bumpstops are coo"

Get ready for a rough ride.

maximadave Feb 14, 2004 09:28 AM

trim them. I didn't trim mine but plan on it soon

KLOOGY Feb 14, 2004 11:56 AM

I have no problem with a rough ride, as long as it also performs as such. So, no Pics yet ?

You say that now. Wait till you hit cracks in the road. Let alone bumps or pot holes. Bone jarring to say the least.

I only say that because im not exactly riding on a floaty suspension, and I have had other cars with pretty stiff setups.

Jimmimax Feb 14, 2004 03:18 PM

Hmm, 35's, 19's and TIENS. Here's the dice Kloogy, keep your wallet handy good luck

There are guys that run Sprints and 19"s on the board and they are fine. Teins are pretty much the same thing. Ask :calder:PHATMAN:calder: how his feels.

KLOOGY Feb 14, 2004 03:45 PM

You guys bring up an interesting thought. Has anyone created a chart
highlights rim size versus spring manufacturer versus tire profile??

Something like;

18 MaxSpeed 35 and up
19 MaxSpeed 35 to 45
20 MaxSpeed 35 only
18 Teins 35 and up
etc...

whatever...you guys get my drift. This would be helpful for most of us who do not have a good understanding of all the different major spring manufacturers and how they each affect our Maximas based on rims and tires.

Can someone create this and post???

Thanks.

I can't wait to put my 19's on with 40 series tires on my existing Ground Controls :grinno:

KLOOGY Feb 14, 2004 06:04 PM

Im actually looking to upgrade to 255/35 series tires . Trying to increase my Paw print, and also a bit more rubber between pavement and wheel...

CCx Feb 14, 2004 06:46 PM

Kloogy,

Would you benefit better from a 40 series rather than the wider 255 tire? I know quite a few who run 235/35, which is too thin for my blood, at the very least I'd run 245/35 like you do now, 245/40 would be optimal in my mind, i just don't know if it would fit with teins (either h or s tech) without rubbing, would love to find a definitive answer so i can grip some tires soon! ....to hell what the speedo says...the extra sidewall would seem more beneficial, but then again I live in pothole country so that's really all i'm worried about :)

For the most part, the recommended plus sizing on tires for larger rims will fit with all springs. It's when you start getting into wider wheels (8.5" wide with 255 width, etc) that you will have issues.

Yeah, ummmm......you might be forced to raise your GC's a bit. Frankly, I think even with the rears all the way up, they will rub.

Hamy Feb 14, 2004 09:43 PM

I think Tiens with 19s is the only way to go. The ride maybe a little rough but who cares!! It looks sick! I did trim the bump stops front and rear. I have no rubbing issues what so ever even with a 15mm spacer in the rear.

Triple8Sol Feb 14, 2004 10:19 PM

Well you already know how my setup looks, Kloogy. Pics of Tein drop are on the 1st page, a couple on another page too...

19x8 Axis Se7en Mod
245/35/19 Nitto 555s
Tein S. Tech
did NOT trim bumpstops

Nathan Feb 15, 2004 07:53 AM

Does anyone else have 245/40 19's with teins or ground controls? Are there any rubber issues I should be concerned about?

rob van dam Feb 15, 2004 08:57 AM

kloogy i thought you were getting the tein coilovers???

anyways where did you get those winter wheels??
i am going to get some new ones for new winter..
thanks

maximadave Feb 21, 2004 08:35 PM

Triple8Sol's Max is da bomb

Triple8Sol Feb 21, 2004 10:15 PM

Kloogy, the problem with our 555's is that the sidewall isn't stiff at all. I hate how it rolls over and doesn't leave much tire b/w the road and the rim.

Honestly the ride on S.Tech's is pretty damn rough...probably even worse with your Tokicos IIRC. I really wonder if trimming the bumpstops and increasing the suspension travel would help?

HitManSE Feb 22, 2004 12:53 AM

I would trim mine, but I just dont feel like taking it apart again :D So if you have em out, might as well do it and get it over with.
255's!? Bro, you dont need to go THAT wide. 245's are enough but whatever floats your boat man :D
